To those of you who write and submit stories to online markets: anyone have any insight to a sci-fi site called Terraform, which is part of the Motherboard site? I was curious if anyone had submitted a story and how long the response time is. I sent one a while ago but haven't heard back. I'd like to send the site another one, as I assume the first submission may have been rejected (a follow-up query did not receive a reply). But I was wondering if anyone here might know the response times. Of course, they seem to skew toward already-established pros, so it might be a longshot.

And does anyone have any suggestions for online markets? Thanks.

According to The Submission Grinder the average response time for Terraform is 96 days, but they also have a high percentage of 'Never Responded'. From memory three months is not unusual and some of the busy markets can take up to six.

If you're looking for good markets to sub short fiction to then I would definitely recommend The Submission Grinder. It's free and you can search by genre, word count, payment rates etc. I found it very useful.

Best of luck and don't lose hope, it's a tough and competitive arena you're entering and I reckon fortune favours the stubborn bast*rd.

My experience with submitted to online contests/brokers is bleak enough that I won't ever do it again. It hasn't been that many. I learned early on.

Good luck with your writing, and I mean that sincerely!
