On his shell he holds the earth.
Forgot earlier to say that it sometimes amazes me when I see people that has pull of the road to talk in the cellphone, they are those
people whom I raise my hat. Yes very often I see people driving and talking in the cell at the same time so it's a issue here too.
To confess, I am actually in the same group of people who's talking and driving at the same time. :shame:
I talk on the phone and drive all the time. I use headphones and it's fine, I think, if both hands are on the wheel. It's the texting and looking at the phone that I think it a big problem.

There was a hit and run very close to where I live and a lady that was walking got seriously injured. So close, in fact, that where this lady got hit is where I frequently walk my dog. This is the 4th hit and run within a week in approximately a 25 mile radius from my house. Three people have died in these four incidents. Luckily, in the incident by my house, there were a couple of witnesses and a good description of the vehicle was given so the chances are that this one will be caught.

The past few years, it seems that I am hearing about hit and runs in my area with alarming frequency. Are the rest of you noticing this in your parts of the country or is this just around me? We have had several incidents the past few years where kids have got hit walking to a bus stop in the morning. What the hell is going on? I don't remember ever hearing about hit and runs at the rate they are happening now in my area.
keep safe .....

The same in NYC. I just know it has to do with damn texting and talking on the freaking phone. People suck! Yes, I am passionate about the use of phones in cars. They should be banned altogether!

DWI is often the culprit in NYC as well. That is just stupid behavior and should carry a much stiffer penalty than it currently does.

This very scenario scares the heck out of me. My daughter always assumes that the drivers are paying attention and that they "see" her. I have told her repeatedly that 99.5% of the time their focus is anything but the road. ( I can only hope the message sinks in)

I was run off the road today by a guy in a big pick up. I assume he didn't notice, because he never took his eyes off the phone in his lap. In the lane on his other side? A sheriff, who missed the whole thing because his eyes were glued to his computer screen. *smdh* There's no winning.

Oh yeah. Just forced onto the side of the road. Well, I say 'forced'--I guess I could have chosen to let him hit me (lol)
I call this "The Pick-up Push." Although your experience is a little different than what I term the PP. Obviously this guy didn't even see you. Around my parts, everyone owns a pick-up and when they want in your lane, they just start pushing over. They see you, but have the attitude, "I'll scare the hell outta them and they'll let me in." Most people in their cars see this big rig heading into their lane and slow down and the pick-up gets over.

Doesn't work with me. I drive a beater. You want to hit me, hit me. You'll pay for it. lol. It totally ticks them off when they have to slow down and get behind me.

Yeah. When I die, it was nice knowing all of you.

He wouldn't have noticed--haha! Nah, I'm a 'roll with it' kinda gal :) Getting really upset usually doesn't hurt anyone but me (and people I love, if they're in my fall out range). Unless there's deliberate cruelty (to anyone, but especially children) involved--then I sort of Hulk out. It's not pretty. :rage::roar:

We saw almost daily reports of hit and run accidents in the Tampa Bay area when we lived there and thought that was excessive. Now that we live in the Southern California area we now know its everywhere. There are two sometimes three reports every day of hit and run accidents. Another fatality just this morning of a man hit by a big rig at 1:30 am. That may be an extreme situation. 1:30 am, driver of the big rig probably didn't even know he/she hit anything. And, of course, what was this guy doing walking in the road at that time of morning? I am amazed though that there are so many people out there who care so little for their fellow man that they think they can get away with it. The law may never find you (but usually does) but your conscience will never let you live life like nothing ever happened. How can we get the word out that all they have to do is just stop. 9 times out of 10 it is an accident, pure and simple. Most times you will not go to jail for an accident, but the minute you make that decision to run...welllll!
