I just don't get why people want to "share" everything with the world. But I'm such a private person, so that's probably why I would never do Facebook. Even the people who know me well, don't really know me...

Danie, That makes two of us, I don't get it at all! May your next movie trip be a much quieter one.

MST3K tangent. Loved it. Knew nothing about it. Was watching late-night TV, turned to it randomly, and five minutes later, I was rolling off the couch, laughing. "Tommy? Can you hear me?" "Can you feel me near you?!"

Facebook tangent. I got on for business contacts. Friends and family friended (the evolution of language: Facebook has made "friend" a verb) me en masse. I was keeping up on everyone, but it was just taking too much time. Haven't been on it for three months now. Downside: About a week ago, I found out that a beloved colleague had died, one of my true hero figures. It was too late to send anything for the funeral. I let some other people know, and they said, "Oh, we already know. It was blowing up Facebook two weeks ago. We figured you knew too."

It's part of the human conversation circle as much as anything else now.

Facebook is kind of two sided coin for me. I like being able to see some important update, but quickly grow weary of those who all about self promotion.

Exactly. I use Facebook but don't feel the need to update every day/week. And if certain people are irritating me I delete them. Simple. I have a lot of friends scattered all over the world from working abroad and Facebook is a great/easy way to keep in touch with them. Not all Facebook users are part of the "mememe" generation and self absorbed.

Danie; I usually go the movies at least once/twice a week, I always prefer to watch a movie on the BIG screen...it's just a shame there are occasionally insensitive people present who will ruin other peoples enjoyment. Ooh, and Captain America is a great movie! :cool2:

I bought a T-shirt quite a while ago that said "I Facebooked your Mom" - I am not sure why - it just sounded insulting to me (but sort of funny at the same time). I think I only ever wear the thing as a night shirt to bed now!

I log in to Facebook about once a quarter, don’t go to the movies except maybe once a year for the kids, and only message with immediate family. I’m much happier for it, and make no apologies for my refusals to partake in these social norms. People know if they want to communicate with me... "pick up the damn phone and talk to me."

I think the time of day makes a big difference… the earlier in the day, the better, in terms of seeing movies in the theater. Also, you get the matinee rate. :smile2:
Totally agree with this. If you're lucky enough to be able to see the early showings, the crowd is generally better behaved. Usually the weekend night crowd is the worst.
I "shush" first, then if that doesn't work I will ask them to leave, if that doesn't work I'll find an usher. Usually the "shush" works.

I love love Mystery Science Theater! And I think you're right--they do think they're being witty and cute.
This is my favorite line from MST: "And if your hands were metal, that would mean something."

My favorite quote is from the Sidehackers episode. A motorcycle gang is hanging out at a park. A young couple are lying underneath a bushy tree. One of the gang members, who has been identified as a drug user, crawls out from under a branch and says to the couple, "Everything's a big zero, man." Servo says, "He must be their accountant."

We have friends who have a real cool clothing for kids shop. They gave our boy a t-shirt for his birthday. It was blue, with the white lettering, and simply said "They're not my parents, we met on Facebook" Out of all the cool t-shirts he had, that was the one that always got people commenting. We left it behind in Florida when over there a couple of years ago on holiday!! Soooo many people over there asked us where they could get one...

That is cute! - can I ask please? What is that pink fuzzy thing on the side of your face (you are sort of peeking out from behind it) on your profile picture? Did you catch a tribble over there in England??? :upside: ;)

I copied this from Sundrop in the "I'm jealous of the big threads here!" thread.
Doesn't this look like a good idea?
