Yes, probably. To see the rest of the review you'll have to visit Amazon.com. Being so technologically ignorant, I wasn't sure how to capture the review in its entirety, unless I just copy/pasted.

Bad Dreams From Stephen King
By J. Hill - November 3, 2015
Stephen King has a long history of devotion to the art of the short story. He has been vocal about his many influences, including the short stories of H.P. Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury, and Richard Matheson, among others, as well as the original Twilight Zone series. Those influences showed prominently in King's early short story collections, Night Shift and Skeleton Crew. By the time of his third collection, Nightmares & Dreamscapes, King had begun to drift into more contemporary realms, as he had with his novels, while still retaining a bit of his old supernatural strangeness in stories like The Night Flier and The Ten O' Clock People. In his later career, King's short stories have rarely returned to the all-out horror and sci-fi assault of yesteryear, opting for more ambiguous fare that often eschews the supernatural altogether, or deals with it in far less grisly terms than in the past (with some exceptions; see Mile 81). Bazaar of Bad Dreams is a typically eclectic batch of stories that doesn't stray far from the expected confines of today's Stephen King, and that's not a problem. He shouldn't be expected to tread the same ground as such memorable favorites as Children of the Corn and The Mist, as he's a much more experienced and cultured writer than the young man who penned those tales. I enjoy the stories in this book for what they are, and just like those in Everything's Eventual and Just After Sunset, many of them will surely sink in with time and reveal themselves to be just as lasting as his other collections in their own context. Even with that said, there's still enough horror here to appeal to King's older fans, making this a well-rounded group of stories.

Most of the group have already been published in various formats that I never buy, such as magazines or e-books, or the audiobook-only Drunken Fireworks, so I'm always grateful to see a new collection, and as usual, there are a few seen here for the first time. I have, however, skipped over Morality and Blockade Billy, as I read both of those stories when they were previously published as a small hardcover. I'm not sure why these two were even included, but I guess I don't see any harm, as it doesn't affect the price of the book, and people who didn't want to buy the Blockade Billy hardcover can now read them. I recommend Bazaar of Bad Dreams for anyone who has enjoyed Stephen King's last twenty years of work. It's a very fun read, and, like King's other collections, a nice change of pace from the novels.

I'd be surprised as hell if this was from the J. Hill you're thinking of. Not his style at all--he just did a lovely review of After Alice for the New York Review of Books, and this doesn't jibe with that style at all. Plus, Amazon has a system in place that is supposed to prevent authors with 'relationship' from reviewing one another's books. Other social media forums are scanned, and if the review fits whatever metric they use (Can't even pretend I understand computer/internet stuff), the review is rejected. This is causing tons of heartburn for a lot of authors I know.

Still a nice review, though :)

I'm glad you picked that up skimom2 - the surname Hill is not uncommon so it probably was not his son's review - like you said, every author has a certain 'style' you can pick up from reading their works.

You're so good to me, Neesy! Even when I go floating air biscuits, you're there to spray some lovely Febreze with Gain over the turd I just laid and make things all nice again! You are a true treasure, Neesy. I mean that from the bottom of my heart! And I do thank you for being such a good friend!

This is why I come here to the board - there are so many wonderful people - even if I am having a bad day, just going to "I'm Jealous of the Big Threads" can make me smile.

I agree. And I didn't meant to sound like I was picking Charms7 -- I think it was a lovely review, and it was kind of you to share it (and it is VERY good to see you around again :) )

Thank you for your input, Summer Sky.

DiO'Bolic, no, I didn't highlight anything, at least not on purpose.
