Is having a second first name very common in general?

Usage of middle names is common in the media with infamous characters (assassins, etc.) to avoid causing unnecessary problems (and unwanted defamation lawsuits) for the many innocent people who have the same first and last name. Hence, James Earl Ray, John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald.

In Hollywood, to register with the Screen Actor's Guild, you must have a unique name, which is why so many had to begin using their middle names. This is why it seems like so many young new actors have triple names, it's because their names were already taken in the S.A.G. registry.

Several years ago when I was married, one of my wife's coworkers walked in to her job with that morning's paper turned to the obituaries and asked if everything was okay with me. Apparently someone with the exact same first and last name as me (and I have a VERY uncommon last name) had died. The ex looked it over and said, "He better not be dead, his life insurance isn't paid up!" They all had a good laugh at this. The guy was about 10 years younger than me (25 is way too young to die) and more than likely a distant relative. This was a case where a middle name comes in handy.

You know I figure we were just making sure our younger family members were toughened up...lol
My uncle who was all of two years older than me locked me in the meathouse one fine morning. We were playing cops and robbers, and I was the robber. No one knew I was there until he went to make me my lunch of bread and water. Grandma went ballistic, called him all of his own three names, and added a few we still don't repeat. I was fine, by the way..... I set up a bunch of old liquor bottles and Prince Albert cans, and was playing store..... took all weekend for my uncle to be able to sit down.
I didn't understand what the fuss was about. I was a prisoner, and he did feed me, after all......

I cant recall ever having been called both my names at the same time. Does this mean i was a good boy...:dunno::nope: Well, i'm not sure .. Locking the toilet door with your mother inside can hardly be a good thing, can it?? But she didn't scream and she didn't spank. She cried alittle, i apologised and all was fine. (and i never did it again, promise)

....being an only child, it grew tiresome rather quickly trying to shove Hot Wheels up my nose-and jumping out from behind a door to scare myself, only resulted in making our old beagle hound fart.....now, I DO happen to know a guy who met a guy who claims to have a replica of Elvis's uvula if you're interested....

My mom and my grandma (who helped raise me) only broke out my middle name on me when I was in trouble. I knew I was in for it when I'd stagger in the house at 3am and hear "William Donald!" from down the hall. By the way, I HATE my middle name.
Donald, where's your troosers?

But you're probably not Scottish

Way down the line, I have descendants from Scotland, Ireland, and England. But I'm not wearing a kilt. I don't have the legs to pull it off.

We get all of ours covered due to our really good health plan up here :face:

Black market Canadian uvulas...I somehow bet that that's actually a thing. Oh Canada...

My Grandpa's family were Scottish. His family Tartan is beautiful......I want this pendant, with the Tartan inside of it, but can't find it for sale anywhere.

Wow - I've never seen such colours in a tartan before!

If and when we go to Scotland again (Andy wants to go back for a visit) just tell me the name I am looking for and I can probably find you something similar.

When we were in Edinburgh they had a shop devoted to all the clans and that is where we got the Murray clan souvenirs (shot glasses etc.)
