RIP - I guess these are photos of him when he was younger - I see a bit of resemblance to Dr. Oz

Wow. Just wow. I've been out of the loop lately. I didn't know he had been suffering from cancer.

He was one of the faces on the Mount Rushmore of horror to me. I greatly enjoyed some of his books. I loved Red and his Off Season books. I was horrified by The Girl Next Door and to this day it remains on the list of books I don't think I can reread... it doesn't get much more horrifying than that.

What a loss.

R.I.P.

Oh, man, this is horrible. I am almost finished with his novel The Lost. I have read most of his books, starting with the original paperback publication of 'Off Season' way back in the day. Such a thin novel and yet it was so utterly amazing. That book made him notorious in the publishing world and with horror readers alike. He had such an amazing talent. Another writer that could use the fewest words to convey the horror he was writing about. Man, this is tough. R.I.P. Dallas- you made your mark on the world and won't be forgotten. :flat:

Oh, no! I'd been thinking of him last month and that it had been a while since we'd spoken so should give him a call.

RIP, Dallas.
Oh, Marsha, I'm sorry about that. I bet Steve is taking it hard as he and Dallas were friends. Didn't Steve have Dallas at the ceremony when he received his 2003 National Book Foundation Medal?

Very sorry to hear that an old friend of mine, Dallas Mayr, died. He terrified readers with books like OFF SEASON and THE GIRL NEXT DOOR. Dallas and I went back to the 70s together.
