I’d like to take this moment to apologize for my argumentative spouts on this site, The Stephen King Message Board.

First I’d like to point out the whole “Hitler Conversation” that took place from this morning to around lunchtime in my time-zone. The whole “Hitler was statistically not the worst person of the 20th century message” was written early in the morning, 7:30 in my city, upon the board’s opening.

I’d excuse it with “I was tired”, but that doesn’t really excuse what I said. I don’t know what point I was trying to prove, I didn’t have time to really “take it back” as class was starting and I had to wait to correct it. It came from a joke about Hitler having one testicle that flew over my head. What I typed was insensitive, considering the actual number of people he killed compared to other dictators doesn’t really matter, he still murdered thousands of innocent people. It was also insensitive to the possible Jewish members of the board, I don’t really know most of your religious views, but I make that statement just in case. And it was also insensitive to a regular member on the board that I am aware is German.

I feel a lot of that conversation, at least on my part, was very badly worded. “Genius” was a bad term for me to use. “Genius” seems like a glorifying term, and I do not want to glorify Adolf Hitler. A better word for me to use would have been “methodical”, I was not trying to seem like I was complimenting him, and I know most of you understand that, my point is that the Holocaust never would have happened if he didn’t know how to get his ways and start it. I apologize for the bad wording, insensitivity of the messages, and me carrying the conversation on.

I’d like to start off this section with, my whole thing where I mention how much I hate communism is meant to be a joke. I do not actually support communism, I doubt anyone here does, but the whole “I hate these goddamn commies” personality trait is meant to be a joke.

That whole argument that came out of Tery being helpful and pointing out a mistake I had missed shouldn’t have happened, I shouldn’t have carried it on when people clearly didn’t understand my attempt at a joke.

About that song I posted, I had only actually listened to it once and just remembered it existed before posting on the board. It was a mistake on my part to not realize the song challenged politics other than the USSR.

A lot of my unnecessary arguments stem from me attempting to make a joke, member either not getting the joke or turning it into a serious topic, and then me trying to defend what I said. I personally should be more patient with you guys, I’m the only regular Gen-Z member on this board, so it’s easier for my jokes to get out of hand because no one has a similar sense of humor. I just feel awkward, intimidated, and angry whenever I try to be funny and then someone reacts in a way I didn’t intend to. It’s not the person who didn’t get the jokes fault, they are even doing their job and/or are sensitive about what I tried to joke about.

I’d like to use me posting the “Sell Montana to Canada” petition as an example of this. I don’t blame Dana Jean for immediately flagging my post as political, she was doing her job. And I understand that the actual post wasn’t removed. I just felt intimidated when I meant to post something funny and then the first reaction I get is “this is political”. I then make the mistake of just trying to carry on the situation with jokes.

I feel intimidated and angry and what not because I enjoy this site and don’t want to offended any of the members on it. I feel like I just tarnished my image by trying to make a joke but accidentally coming off as political, and I feel this same way after coming off an unnecessary argument here, which I’ll get to next.
Most of me accidentally starting arguments with intentional political themes also goes next.

I have had more than occasional long arguments with other members on the board, usually over silly things. I have a tendency to get overly-passionate about these arguments and carry them on way longer than they need to, I realize. I don’t fully know why I act like this, I just have moments where I feel I need to get my point across.

Maybe it’s suppressed anger that I vent through trying to win these trivial arguments. But regardless, I only make myself the fool in trying to carry them on, I’m sorry. It’s childish, and although I am a child, it doesn’t excuse my actions. It also ruins my image to the person I argue with and other members who witness the argument.

I apologize for these instances on the board, they are completely my fault and I unnecessarily carry them on. Like I said, I get overly passionate and only really make myself look like a bigger fool when I try to carry them on. Please be patient with me, because I can’t promise that these won’t happen again. Just please keep in mind if I ever start a controversial or completely unnecessary flame war, or post something that seems political, I’m either having a moment of desperate anger or the original intention was a bad attempt to make a joke, or something else that depends on the situation.

With all that said, I’m sorry.

Appreciate you putting lots of thought into this. Having been a part of the moderating team for [thinking] coming up 7 years, we've seen these sorts of things happen quite frequently and misunderstandings do come in all shapes and sizes.
Because we've seen so much, it is actually useful for us to try and nip certain things in the bud before they blow up. Having sets of guidelines (no political comments, pictures, videos, memes and/or content deliberately intending to wind others up) is what has made this place one of the more relaxed and enjoyable sites on the net I believe. The Internet is (IMO) full of sites where people have zero respect for each other and I just love that this place isn't like that.

Thank you for your thoughts and apology... it's appreciated.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. But for whisky I would head straight for Jamisons Irish whisky preferably in Irish coffee. Have you had one of these? It has whipped cream on top.

I love Irish Coffee - would have one right now but it's only 8:30 in the morning
