It is snowing. Could get around 6 inches which is not bad but tomorrow is May. So .25 inches is too much. I am over winter. We started getting snow in September last year. I am done.

Ali was supposed to have a track meet today in South Dakota but they are also getting snow and it was cancelled. So far they have missed out on 2 meets because of snow and 1 because the host school uninvited them.

She did have a meet Saturday and she did well. Came home sunburned. She took 10th in the 200m, 33.20 seconds. That is a bit more than a second better than first meet. 11th in long jump, 11'3". 2" further than first meet. She ran the 4x100 relay and they took 1st with 59.58 seconds and 5th in the 100-200-300-400 relay with 2:30.24. There was a bit of upset in this one, apparently the "helpers" told them some incorrect info about the handoff zone and so they all slowed down on handoffs. Coaches were mad. But, Ali said there were over 700 kids in this meet so those are very good results! She has a home meet this Saturday. Evan has prom Saturday. So hopefully we can fit it all in and be home to take pictures.

Ali was officially accepted into Jr Honor Society, induction ceremony is on the 15th.

Have a great day. Big hugs and positive vibes to all! :love_heart:

I'm going to try out our new-ish passenger train this weekend. It goes from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale to Miami. They are working on the link to Orlando now and that part will be done in 3 years. After that, plans are to connect to Tampa.

Saturday, I'm taking my mother to the airport in West Palm Beach so while I'm down there, I'm going to give the train a try. I was planning on going to a Heat game on it earlier but that didn't pan out so this will be my maiden voyage. I wanted to try it out in the daytime before I ventured to a Heat game at night anyway. I'd like to go once in the daylight before I get dropped off in Miami at night. :) The train stops in Miami right at Biscayne Bay. This is Bayfront Park and the Bayfront Park ampitheater. The Heat arena is out of the photo to the left.

I hope I like it. Driving South of West Palm Beach is really getting to be a hassle.
Well, what did you think?

Getting snow any time after the end of March is just wrong. I don't know about you, but I get very cranky when that happens and being told "this time of year it will all be gone in a day or two" does. not. help.

Congrats to Ali on all of her events and the honor society induction. Just curious as to why the host school uninvited them.

Will Evan be bringing his date to your house, too, so you get to do the prom pictures?

Yes it is making me cranky and I think gave me another stupid headache. :hammer: There is supposed to be a lull this afternoon to melt some but then the second wave starts tonight so all the melt is going to do is make slick roads.

Thank you! The host school said our team was too big. But the other jr high from here still got to go. It is not a very good way to teach these kids good sportsmanship! "We don't want to compete with you so don't come." :facepalm_smiley:

Yep, Evan will be bringing his girlfriend here for pictures. I hope Ali is either done with her events and can leave a little early or the track meet is all done so we can get home. Will be a very full day!

Well, what did you think?

I liked it. The 3 stations are new and nice and the trains are new. All 3 stations (WPB, Fort Lauderdale & Miami) are located close to areas with restaurants and things to do. The ride is not the prettiest ride as when the train heads South from WPB, it mostly travels next to Dixie Highway which is pretty much all industrial parks. You see the backs of a lot of buildings. :) You can check bags on the train in case you are going to the airport and there's a lot of room above the seats for carry ons. WPB to Fort Lauderdale is about 30 minutes and about an hour 15 to Miami from WPB.

cat in a bag - that is great that Ali is improving each meet, but stinks about the uninvite. Sheesh! I'll be thinking of you on Saturday. That does sound busy! Big warm hugs your way!! :love_heart:

On another note, I had posted on arista's profile page and she got back to my yesterday. She is feeling good, about halfway thru radiation, but super busy and misses the SKMB! I told her we are thinking of her and to check back when she has time. She should be done with radiation around 5/15. :applause:

Thanks for letting us know that arista is okay. That's a relief in light of what she's been going through.

Congratulation to Ali!

We got a bit of snow here too - 12.7 cm in Miami, Manitoba - that's not that much

(about 5 inches)

Just finished up business permit Spotted Lanternfly training. We’re in the quarantine zone. Failure to get a permit and training will result in fines in these parts. You’d think it was The Mist around here. But unless we do something there could be a ban on PA goods to the tune of $18 billion.

That's interesting and scary. Had a quick Google re: the Spotted Laternfly. Good luck in curbing the spread of this pest. :)

Had to look it up also. Hope it gets under control.
