Finally got to see Doctor Sleep last Friday night. Blown away by how good it was. My wife said it was one of the creepiest movies she's ever seen. Capped off a pretty much perfect date night. Kudos to Mr. King and the people who brought the book to the big screen, very well done.
Still haven't seen this yet. How was my Ewan? :biggrin2:

He was amazing, Flake. I thought he caught the vulnerability of a grown up Daniel Torrance very well. I think the casting was spot on with everyone in this movie, It's one of the best adaptations of Mr. King's books that I've seen, imho. It may be the fact that the original movie The Shining, even though I know Mr. King didn't like it, truly scared the bejesus out of me when I first saw it at about 8 years old. It's one of those movies that instantly takes me back to that age when I hear that creepy intro music or see the old yellow book cover. I think the blending of the original Kubric story line, and Mr. King's plots from both books was masterful. They really got it right in Doctor Sleep. The movie was 2.5 hours long and I would have very willingly watched another hour or more. My hand was completely numb from Tamara's death grip she maintained on it for most of the movie..lol. She was disturbed by certain parts of the movie, she's not as much of a horror fan as I am, but she did say it was one of the creepiest movies she's ever watched. I sat thru the whole movie, a slight smile on my face, just being amazed at how Mr. King can tell a story so damn well. But to get back to your question, Ewan McGregor was outstanding in every aspect of his role. He did a great job.
Hope you and yours are well, btw, Flake. Have a good week.

Thanks so much for this review. I definitely want to see it... and not just for the Ewan factor. :biggrin2: I'm a bit of a baby when it comes to scary/horror though, so will possibly watch it from behind spread hands.
Thanks my friend, hope you're having a great week too, thinking of you guys often... and hoping all is well, even if I'm a slack-ass at keeping up with correspondence.

Sounds good, the guy who directed it has apparently been a lifelong fan since 6th grade, and he has a record for critically acclaimed horror movies like Oculus and Hush

Yes, but I feel like such a snot if I log in to FB and then leave without flicking you a 'hey'. (you know I pretty much only do FB for the cat videos and to check in with my buds if they're needing a chuckle? (they only need look at my face, that usually does it)

Yeah, the cat videos are one of the highlights of FB...lol. I never want to message you because I'm always convinced it's the dead of night in New Zealand and I don't want the dinging to wake someone up...lol. You'd think I could do the math and figure out what time of day it is, but no, I just assume it's always nighttime in NZ...lol:lol::hmm:

Well, we're almost at the very bottom of the Earth ball, so yeah, it IS always night time. (no, I did not mean to make any sense in this post at all ;;D )
And, I always turn my ding off at night, so no worries.
(No Scott, no Triple O, no Di0.... it's not worth it.)
