Oh my goodness, I was really just teasing because I'm sad that the Halloween story is over. I'd love it if it really did happen but I'm afraid I'd only be useful for editing. I haven't written creatively in a great many years.
....where do you stand on gerbils?....umm, let me rephrase that...what is your stance regarding gerbils and clog dancing?...(no gerbils were harmed during the typing of this post)...

Aaaah, yes, that was it. I knew there was a reason for not attempting it then and why we did a Valentine one. There will be closings for both holidays, so too hard to organize that Nomik.
Never did a Christmas SKMB story. I believe the thoughts were many were busy with planning family gatherings due to Thanksgiving, school holidays, and then December's mad rush. Not sure of SKMB closing holiday schedule. If I recall we closed for a period of time before and thru the New Year.
Makes sense. Well, the Halloween story was a blast again this year. I'm sure we'll have just as much fun next year.

Jump in and write next year! It's fun, and you don't need to be Edgar Allan Poe. The editing piece is something that you might want to take on after you try the writing part to see how it goes. It’s easier if you are familiar with the way the story works IMO, but you might be great at it.

Teachers in school used to tick me off when they would give us a word and I would ask, "How do you spell that?" And they said, "Look it up."

Uh, well there Einstein, I can't look it up if I don't know how to spell the damn word.

When one of my students asked me how to spell a word, he would often have a piece of paper and pencil to write the word as I spelled it. I would let him get ready, then spell, “L-O-O-K-I-T-U-P.” When he realized what was spelled on his paper, we’d have a little moment. Then I’d tell him the first few letters to make it easy to find in a dictionary.

Thankee sai. By the time I got back here I had already looked it up. I like that word. Now come on. Tell me the truth readers of the SKMB 2017 Hallowe'en Tale. How many of you knew that word when you read it in the story? ;-D

That's where teaching older children differs for me. If they care enough to even ask how to spell something correctly, rather than rely on spell check or Grammerly, I happily tell them. I usually include a mini lesson on how to remember English spelling patterns, Latin and Greek roots, etc, that way they may remember. With my ESL students, I always spell the words, but I do a lot of mini lessons on phonetic patterns and such.

Half of my teaching was joking around with the kids. More laughing=more learning.
