The Infiltrator (2016) Bryan Cranston

Based on a true story from the mid 80s. Bryan Cranston plays an undercover US Customs agent trying to take down a drug cartel by tracking the flow of money. I liked the movie but it does drag a bit in places. There have been quite a few movies covering mid 80s drug trafficking so there's nothing you haven't seen before but it's still a decent flick.

Latest Resident Evil movie at the cinema. I didn't think it was much good. You can tell if you don't like a movie when you go to the picture show because you start thinking when is it going to end/how long to go. Also, I start hearing the music score/music which means the movie hasn't grabbed my attention. A music score should be anonymous.

Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
Snatch (2000)

Two hilarious British crime comedies directed by Guy Ritchie. I watched them back to back and I think I hurt my ribs. I think they are still as funny as they were when they were released.
I have yet to see these two movies. I have Rocknrolla and love it! I enjoy dark humor....

'through the never'

it's a concert, but with a great twist and stage set- and a roadie on a great quest .

music is great, effects are brilliant , and the police riots outside are scary and very reminiscent of the pubes and the greys (lamppost hangings!)

great concert. try it - you won't be disappointed

Superman V Batman was rather...meh. I mean, I dug some of it. My mon Bats looked great--best Bat Suit yet, real Frank Miller-ish. Jeremy Irons made a great Alfred. I dug Wonder Woman. And I really dug that scene with Lois in the tub, mm-mmmn. I enjoyed Jessie Eisenberg's performance as Luthor, yet the character seemed more like the Joker they way he played it. But, ultimately, I just...I dunno. The whole thing was just too dark and depressing, and nothing really struck my fancy. I didn't get goosebumps, like I do with the MCU flicks. Maybe it's just because I've always been a Marvel Zombie, and never cared as much for the 'Dinstinguished Competition'.

We could use a new, badass Swamp Thing movie, though.

The Space Between Us - rather obvious, but touching and amusing sci-fi teen romance
The Lego Batman Movie - huge fun for comics and Batman fans, loads of references, spoiled by some bad voice casting and action too fast to follow
The Great Wall - absolutely bonkers "true" story of why the Great Wall was built: popcorn movie, put brain in neutral and enjoy the ride

Triple 9. Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Aaron Paul. Police movie where a group of corrupt cops are also working for the Russian mafia. Very boring. I was expecting a lot better of this really good cast ensemble but it's just too unrealistic and slow.

lately:

LEGO Batman Movie--my son and his friends loved it. Made me laugh a few times. Not as good as the LEGO Movie, but still worth the price of a ticket.

Allegiant--checked this one out of the library. I liked it, as I liked the first two in the series (I might be one of the only people in existence who liked them--lol. I think they were collectively better than the Hunger Games movies, actually.) These three movies work best when seen back to back. The director did a good job of telling a single story without lumped on twists or silly cliffhangers at the end of the first two. And the female lead is actually effective! She doesn't sit around as a foil for the male lead! Hooray!

The Revenant--The book was much, much better than the movie. I giggled through the last 1/4-1/3 of the movie. My son put it well: "This is the kind of movie you admire more than you like." Inarritu is a wonderful director, the movie was beautiful (light is truly another character in all of his movies), the performances were sterling (though Hardy deserved an Oscar more than Dicaprio)...and the story was flat. Why he chose to take a straight ahead adventure story and muck it up with hokey mysticism, ham-handed symbolism, and silly backstory I will never understand. READ THE BOOK. Tremendously better story than this hoo-ha.

Isle of the Dead--the Karloff movie. It's pricey on Amazon, but I found a secondhand copy at the comics shop for a couple of bucks. The DVD actually has Isle of the Dead and Bedlam (I've never seen that one), so it was good value! I remembered watching this one on Nightmare Theater when I was a kid; it's not one of Lewiston's best, but his use of light is also tremendously good and the sequence with the premature burial is still creepy and effective.

Next up: Victor Frankenstein. I've heard terrible things about this one, but I like both Daniel Radcliffe and James Mc Avoy, so I'm willing to give it a go :)

EDIT: I almost forgot! I also watched a documentary called Minimalism. Eh. It was okay.

100% agree with you! We finally got around to watching this last weekend, and I was so disappointed. The book was infinitely better. The scenery was beautiful, though.

The film is gorgeous. The cinematography almost makes up for any shortcomings with the story. I recently bought a 4K blu-ray player and this is the only 4k blu-ray I have so far. When I bought the 4k blu-ray player, of course, I wanted to get a 4k movie so I picked this one because I remembered how stunning it looked the first time I saw it. This movie looks amazing in 4k.

BTW, I haven't read the book, so I wasn't disappointed with the story like those of you who have read the book. Reading sure does ruin a lot of movies. ;-D
