Genius. Biographical period piece about Maxwell Perkins discovering (and enduring) Thomas Wolfe. Colin Firth does a great job as Perkins, but Jude Law's hyperactive, motor-mouthed Wolfe got on my nerves in a hurry. Yeesh, Thomas Wolfe didn't really behave like that, did he? An interesting movie, if you're into the whole process of writing, editing, publishing, etc., but ultimately, just kinda...bah. Just go re-read Look Homeward, Angel, and leave this flick behind an unfound door.

O, lost...

FYI: Not sure if you've heard but Neil Gaiman's book American Gods has been turned into a tv show and will premiere on Starz on April 28th.
I did see that! No Starz, but I'm considering getting an Amazon Prime account (since they jacked up their shipping and raised the amount before you get free shipping) and I think I read it will be available there, too :) .

I sure hope so! I don't have Starz either. I read American Gods not long after it came out and loved it! Maybe I should re-read it before the show starts...

Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
Snatch (2000)

Two hilarious British crime comedies directed by Guy Ritchie. I watched them back to back and I think I hurt my ribs. I think they are still as funny as they were when they were released.

Hi!

My kid brother had me watch both. I loved them! (Errrm... I had to put the Closed Caption to understand what they were saying. I don't do well with some accents. =D)

10 Cloverfield Lane

After getting in a car accident, a woman is held in a shelter with two men, who claim the outside world is affected by a widespread chemical attack.

I enjoyed it. =D (It's available on Hulu right now.)

I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore

When a depressed woman is burglarized, she finds a new sense of purpose by tracking down the thieves alongside her obnoxious neighbor. But they soon find themselves dangerously out of their depth against a pack of degenerate criminals.

I THINK I liked it. :a11: I strongly suggest you watch it. (Let me know if we were supposed to hitting the shrooms before watching it.) (Available on Netflix right now.)

Bedlam-Boris Karloff is wonderfully evil in this one! It was the second movie on a 2 DVD disc I bought for Isle of the Dead. Bedlam was well worth watching! Some risqué double entendre for the era, a little wooden acting, and a female lead that is almost as conniving as the villain.

Snowpiercer--weirdly wonderful little dystopian movie. This is my third time through, and I think I like it more each time.

I forgot to mention to our Walking Dead fans that Lennie James is in Snatch.

I put the closed captions up for the UK movies too. It's not that I don't understand what they are saying but the slang is so different than US slang, I find that reading it helps me process it quicker. With the streaming services, I've seen a lot of UK TV and movies the past couple of years, so I'm getting good at picking up the slang. And the UK slang is superior to US slang. ;-D

I used to tell JD that if I ever met him in person, I wanted him to cuss me out. Nobody can sling hilarious profanities like the Scots. ;-D

came in from work yesterday, and caught the tale end of this cracker. the boy is annoying as hell, an excellent portrayal of an angry confused kid who loses his father in 9/11

his ranting speech to his mute grandfather (max von) is just brilliant

rent it, stream it, burn it- whatever- bet you have a tear in your eye after watching it.

ps i mean the movie above- not SKs 'It'

I miss Still Game - the best show I got to watch in Scotland way back in 2005 - we don't get it here in Canada :chargrined:

I'll have to go look on the internet now - man - their accents are thick!

(thanks SHEEMIEE :)
