Spiderman Homecoming.

Quite enjoyable. From having seen Spiderman from the '70s (I was a late-comer to Marvel), Tom Holland nails it as the geeky, conflicted, frustrated, and actually young wisecracking Peter Parker of legend, and they tie it in nicely to Tony Stark and Civil War.

We all (grandparents and grandchildren) enjoyed it thoroughly, and the ending credits were a joy, and the Easter egg at the very, very end got us. Joke's on us, Marvel. Nicely played.

If you like the Marvel Universe to any degree, you'll probably like this.

I went to see this with my kids yesterday, and I agree with you for the most part. Some of the 'shout out' scenes stumbled, but Holland had a fresh take on teen Spidey. He was able to pull off 15 years old, but is a strong enough actor to also sell the dramatic scenes. This version had some outstanding shots and absorbing sequences as well (though the fast moving CGI at the beginning was not great). And Keaton was wonderful! It was a fun movie!

I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore (2017) Melanie Lynskey, Elijah Wood (streaming on netflix)

I enjoyed this one. It's a black comedy that starts out a bit lighthearted and quirky and ends up dark and violent. A woman's house is robbed and when she decides that the police are not going to do anything about solving the crime, she starts investigating it herself. She gets help from her neighbor (Elijah Wood) as she starts tracking down leads.

Devil's Knot (2013) Reese Witherspoon, Colin Firth (streaming on netflix)

This is based on the mysterious murders in West Memphis, Arkansas in the mid 90s and the trial of the West Memphis Three. It's a decent movie and interesting but it kind of has that TV movie feel to it. The cast is great but I don't think the movie is quite as good as it could have been. Still, it's worth watching.

Not a bad movie but the book is much, much better. I'm ashamed this occurred in my home state because it was an absolute
travesty of justice from day 1.

I just watched this a couple days ago too. Didn't you love Elijah Woods's character? Plus, I thought Christine Woods stole the show as the thief's stepmother. Just the way she kept laughing when she answered the door, when there was no reason to laugh--cracked me up.

He was great. I didn't even recognize him in that first scene when he was walking his dog. ;-D

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot--I really liked this movie. Tina Fey does a great job, and who doesn't like Martin Freeman?

Taking Lives--Angelina Jolie as an FBI agent tracking down a serial killer. Pretty good. She really is a beautiful girl.

A Man Called Ove--loved this one. Funny, endearing, real. It's a Swedish film based on a novel, and there are subtitles if you're not Kurben. :)

watched baby driver a few days ago. pretty decent. yesterday my friends five year old decided we should watch parent trap. haven't seen it since i was young, and something you don't tend to think about . . . it's played as cute/funny, but they were really terrible parents lol. "hey, for our own comfort and convenience, let's split the kids up, never let them know they have a sister, and never let them meet their mom/dad"

I loved this movie! It was dark and strange. I felt off kilter with it. :lemo:

Sigmund, I finished American Horror Story: Murder House.
The character of Adelaide stole the show, it was heartbreaking to see her get killed. I liked that storyline very much.

Yay, for you! It was awesome, huh? (You binge watched the he11 out of that show ) (I was going to try and watch it with you but I couldn't have kept up.)

Yeah, that was sad but I'm glad

she didn't make it to the house/yard. She would have been trapped there forever.

Are you going to watch any other seasons? I'm afraid you might be disappointed.

Yeah, exactly. I didn't figure that out right away but then I slowly realized. I almost teared up when she was putting make up on Adelaide in the morgue. I told my sister around episode two that Tate was the rubber suit man, I was right! Lol
It was the freakiest show I've seen in a while. Jessica Lange was outstanding as the neighbor. I don't think I'll watch anymore seasons right now.
