Watched Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. Not the worst part of the franchise, but I think it does not really have anything in common with the original movie, not the same... genre, a bit different from the previous part. Well, it's hard to explain, I think you understand what I mean in case you've seen the movie.

Captain America - The Winter Soldier. Excellent movie. Loved it! The fight scenes were very well done and visceral. I literally felt the punches!

Most of all, this movie made the Cap a bad ass and interesting character. Here's to hoping Warner Brothers is taking notes on how to make a dull character interesting for MOS sequel.

Why do you score Dallas low? I haven't seen it but assume it must be pretty good to win three Oscars.
Dallas Buyers Club had good performances, it's a compelling(based on a true story) movie... I don't know, I'm kind of hard to impress when it comes to movies. I guess if I really liked the movie, it would have stuck in my mind afterwards and I would want to watch it again sometime in the future. It wasn't bad and a 6.5 rating FOR ME isn't a low rating.

Casino (1995) Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Sharon Stone

This is a sort of a companion film (not a sequel) to Goodfellas. Martin Scorsese teams up again with the author of Goodfellas and comes up with another mob tale loosely based on true events. The film even has a voice over narration like Goodfellas. Casino is more of a larger National tale than Goodfellas. Casino is about the mob building and running a hotel in 1970s Las Vegas (before Vegas turned into Disney World). The mob bosses couldn't go anywhere near Vegas (or it could mess up their licensing, etc) so they sent two guys out to run the hotel for them, Sam (De Niro) and Nicky (Pesci). Sam and Nicky were good friends but things started to go bad as each of them pursued different goals in Vegas. Another excellent Martin Scorsese flick.

I believe Sharon Stone won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, too!

Captain Phillips - Tom Hanks

Tense film about the hijacking of a cargo ship off of Somalia. Even though we know how it ends, the cat and mouse game between Capt Phillips and the pirates is riveting.
When I saw this, I didn't know how it ended, had never heard of this event before... I was so tense that by the end of the movie, my jaw was aching (from gritting my teeth) and my hands hurt from gripping the chair arms.

There is another film called "A Hijacking" that is very good too. That one is a Dutch film that I caught on Netflix streaming. "A Hijacking" is about a ship that was hijacked and deals more with the shipping company negotiations to free it's employees. It's a very tense film too and well worth seeing.

I think I liked him best in either Blood Diamond or The Departed. Or Shutter Island. Or... yeah, he's a pretty damned good actor in anything :)
Leo's not one of my real faves, though I'm pretty picky. Also, I go by roles actors choose to accept. For instance, I might say I like Matt Damon more than Leo, but my sentiments are shaded by the roles the two have played and whether those characters did it for me. I realize, for another example, that Meryl Streep is a renowned actress, but I like almost none of her performances (those I've seen, which are few due to a movie's subject matter seeming uninteresting to me). Anthony Hopkins, Dustin Hoffman, John Cusack, Morgan Freeman, Samuel L, on the other hand, can do no wrong; though I will still avoid movies they are in if the subject matter seems meh.

I watched Gravity last night. It was neat, but I don't understand all the awards buzz that it received. Maybe I'm missing something.
I felt the same way- it was a good movie but not fantastic. Sandra played the same likeable character she always seems to play. I'd like to see her play a real b*tch sometime, ya know? Maybe even kill someone just to see her go against 'type'.
