OMG I have to see this, I love Don Glut! He supposedly, prior to the Batman TV series, had the idea of making a film with Bruce Cabot a disillusioned, over-aged, alcoholic Batman, and Frankie Avalon as Robin! The guy's a national treasure. I need to track this down.

I'd have never chosen to watch it based on the description. My husband was browsing amazon.and found it. I was texting a friend and.only half listening to what was on TV at first. It was so interesting I had to drop everything else and watch.

Apparently, it's a book too, but this is one instance where I think you'd have to see the film. I was amazed.

Checked out the last three Hunger Games DVDs from the library. Had previously only watched the first one. I watched The Hunger Games: Catching Fire last night. Maybe I should've re-watched the first one, because I wasn't too impressed. It got pretty decent reviews, so maybe it's just me.

I was watching The Old Dark House (1932) this morning. Hard to believe the young woman is the same Gloria Stewart who played the old lady in Titanic! This is my favorite James Whale film. Please watch this iconic scene. It was obviously filmed before the Hollywood decency codes were in place. That's fine stuff. But it'll rot!

Bought John Wick Chapter 2 off VUDU. Saw it in the theater but the two John Wick movies are quickly climbing the ranks of my favorite action movies. Keanu Reeves is just awesome in these movies and the body count is nothing short of video game scale....lol

Good Dick*
Indie film with Jason Ritter and Marianna Palka. Serious subject matter which at times was dramatic, and more often funny. I've seen Ritter in a few light roles, but he really shined here, many times reminding me so much of his dad, it hurt to watch. I rewound several times just to watch him act the scene again--the small nuances and facial expressions made him seem like he was not acting--such a gift. The movie was weird, quirky, sweet, and I loved it. I cued up a bunch more Ritter films to watch later! Bonus: Martin Starr (Bill in Freaks and Geeks) played one of Ritter's friends. I love him too.

*See if you can avoid the obvious, repetitive joke here. Everything gets old after a while, especially when one is being serious about a film that touched one's heart.

U-571. An honest submarine movie made in a rather old style Remember Das Boot? This was made 2000 and its main downside was that it had Matthew McConnaughey in the lead. I've never liked him but he had good supporting actors in Harvey Keitel and Bill Paxton. Good, worth a watch if you like the sub(funny, right)genre but not the best submarine movie i seen. Takes place during WW2 when the Allies tried to break the Enigma-code.

...she is referring to the TWSS and TWHS quips that have been rife of late...I understand her asking it not be employed as a rebuff to her post, but I always reserve the right to drop said quip when I have a notion to and when I know the "target" will take it for what it is....a bit of sophomoric humor....

Pearl Harbor. A nosedive of a movie really. I DONT like Ben Affleck. The best actorinput here was his loveinterest played by Kate Beckinsale. Far faaaar too long for its own good though the attack on Pearl was well made. But before and after it went in several directions at once and didnt seem to know where it was heading. They started filming with two questions still unanswered: Where do i start this tale and where do i end it? Not a good recipe for a good movie.

I'm not an admirer of Affleck either. His acting is wooden to me. Haven't seen Gone Girl but I did read the book and I thought 'What a perfect part for him to play.' as the husband has the emotional depth of a plant.

Thats an insult to plants! My plastic flower i have in my kitchen can express more emotional depth than Affleck!!

Oh, and he is even more wooden than the bookcharacter in Gone Girl.

Watched The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 last night. Just okay, IMHO. I liked it a bit better than Catching Fire. It's been difficult watching Philip Seymour Hoffman - I forgot he was in these movies, or I probably wouldn't have checked them out from the library. I'm really sensitive about seeing films with actors who've passed away. But it's getting more difficult to avoid. :(
