Okay, but I'm leery of those "free" trials. Sometimes that monkey won't get off my back and it's the dickens trying to cancel. haha
I had done it when someone gave us their ancient smart tv, which was like futuristic to us. You can click notify you 7 days prior to end date, but I marked the calendar. Canceling was one click. Gave us a chance to watch, order a gift prime, and decide. I do not watch it enough to pay. Downsize expenses a must.

Tried to see if I could abuse the Shudder free trial to watch some of those cult indie horror movies I've heard good things about. How can I trust that it's free if it wants me to insert my card information? I'm not going to remember to cancel!

We watched Jumanji: The Next Level. We really liked the first one, mostly because of the cast. That group really has a great chemistry. In the second movie, Awkwafina is thrown into the mix and she is terrific. Watching her channel Danny DeVito is comic gold. Danny Glover is in there, too. Both movies are wonderful escapes and I now forgive them for the reboot.

The King starring Timothee Chalamet. This was a Netflix original. I liked it although it's not a very happy movie. I think Chalamet smiled all of three times in it.
I know it's not polite to quote oneself, but I forgot to add that Robert Pattinson (Twilight saga) does a very credible acting turn as a French bad guy. I've always looked at him with one eyebrow raised but he actually can act.

It's a shameful act!!! :p
If I said it before, I'll say it again.....

No, wait, wait.

Anyway.

Mister Roberts, 1955, which was a good year anyway cough*Grandma*cough. Great cast. Henry Fonda, William Powell, James Cagney, and some new kid named Jack Lemmon. Set on a US Navy cargo ship in the latter months of World War Ii, in the Pacific theater. It's kind of the theme of Mutiny on the Bounty or The Caine Mutiny, except that there is no outright mutiny, but the theme of the disreputable captain and earnest first officer are consistent.

I'd describe it as a "dramedy" (because "comma" doesn't work), a fairly serious story filled with humorous elements. Some of the style is a bit dated, which I say for almost every classic movie, but it's true. Anyway, eminently worth the watch, just to see Henry Fonda at work, William Powell in his last movie appearance, and Jack Lemmon do his Oscar-winning performance on that one.

Neither of us had seen it before, not fully, and now we're glad we have.
