I loved Joyland, is The Colorado Kid similar? I've tried to read about it but it's hard to find any good info without spoilers. So if I liked Joyland, will I like Colorado Kid?

    I would say yes.

...yes, though I think you will find Kid's ending much more ambiguous...

Definitely, though I bet you wind up liking Joyland more. Personally, I think Joyland is SK's best book in years.

Yeah I thought Joyland was really sweet. I'll give it a try, I started Needful Things last night.

I think so. The style is very similar. I liked both very much :)

I do think the styles are similar. However, while I loved The Kid, I never even finished Joyland. Just found it to boring,

I like them both, but for me The Kid was creepier and therefore my favorite.

Just thought I'd give an update. I've made it about half way through the colorado kid and I'm bored out of my mind with it. I'm trying to decide if I should give it another chance and finish it or just move on.

Finish it. It is different, but interesting.

i think the best thing about the story is the really weirdness that happens near the end of the tale. it is a slow read but by the end of it you will be scratching your head, wondering how exactly this stuff happened!

I could have easily read Joyland in one sitting, I had to force myself to put it down just to make it last longer.

And I tried again. While sitting in the ER with my son for hours. And I found people watching much more interesting.

I get it. I feel the same way about the 2nd half of The Stand. Once the book turns away from the Superflu and towards the mythological struggle I lose interest and mentally check out. What can ya do?

Well I have to agree, This is by far one of my least fav SK stories. I read it in two sittings on a flight to and from LA. Its a short one in comparison to his other works, I would just finish it and put it under your belt and move on. You know check that one off the list.
