None of my babies slept thru the night until they were 2. It was murder. It was horribly cruel. No one warned me. I was so pissed off when I found I myself pregnant for the 3rd time. I'm still catching up on my sleep.
...you were pissed off when you got pregnant the THIRD time?????....ummmmm, you DO know how that happened right?.....:p

It was not my fault - totally not my fault. That's all I'm saying. Bonus baby is totally my husband's deal. Totally. But she's funny and kind of crazy in a way my other two aren't. A blessing in the end, really. Once we got past the no sleeping thing.

:sleepy:

Youngest son is home from school with mononucleosis;
But it took a while for us to get this diagnosis.
He complained of headaches first and then he got a rash.
Couldn't get him motivated - all he'd do was crash.

I kept on insisting he get up and go to school.
Didn't want to see my son grow up to be a fool.
Now I'm feeling guilty 'cause the kid was really sick...
Turns out that his mom's the one who's dumber than a brick.

I had mono in college and stayed home for a week or so. Yeah, it was miserable. I came back to school that semester and got caught up, though. Back then, there wasn't much the docs could do except tell my folks to let me rest, keep me hydrated, and sip chicken soup and 7-Up, pretty much. If I remember right. Which I might not.

In terms of all the health experiences in my life that I'd rather not go through again, it probably ranks third behind the heart attack and the near-broken leg, but not all that far behind.

Keep your fingers crossed you do not get shingles in your fifties like I did - yikes! I would rather go through child birth again and labour pains than have that searing shingles nerve pain in my hip.

I'm past my fifties, but I'll still keep my fingers crossed. I had measles as a kid, so supposedly I carry the virus that could become active someday.

Sorry for your pain, Neesy.

Did you have chicken pox? I got every disease when I was young - scarlet fever, whooping cough, measles, mumps etc. Mom did not take me for any more vaccinations after I broke out in eczema (after my first shot). Scary huh?

I had chicken pox, measles, mumps. I'm not sure about whooping cough or scarlet fever. I used to think I'd had scarlet fever, but now I'm not so sure. However, I think I had more than one type of measles.

Those came in quick succession somewhere around first-grade-ish. The other karmic-ish end of that, though, is that I rarely get sick anymore. I've never had a flu shot, and I don't catch the flu. Strep and other communicables would run through the family, except for me. The kids call it my mutant healing power.

I think it's chicken pox and shingles that are related... you can't get shingles if you haven't had chicken pox.
Thanks Flakey!~

Is it Victoria Day over in New Zealand today too (or was that yesterday?)

Here's Dame Edna back in 1982 with a statue of Queen Victoria - she kills me!

My husband had shingles at the beginning of the year. What a pain... literally. I really felt bad for him.
Where did he get his? Mine was over my left hip and now it seems like my left side is where I get a lot of pain lately - swollen left ankle, sore left shoulder, joint pain etc. Is that what they call post herpetic neuralgia - yikes!
(Maybe I just had a stroke) oh God I hope not!
I can't even lift my left foot up high anymore when I have to put on boots.

Too late to edit now - 10 minutes have gone by - I just realize I sound like a hypochondriac here!

Mostly his left side; theres a particular spot that wraps around the body. Google it. If you do have shingles you should get to the doctor for treatment.
