Somewhere over the rainbow

There is still a week (and some) before Thanksgiving Day...
I've just thrown my pumpkin from All Hallows Eve away;
Yet, I'm seeing Christmas decorations in the stores.
Some folks have already hung their wreaths upon their doors.

There are ads with Santa Claus; I'm hearing jingle bells.
Christmas-time too early is like 7 kinds of hells.
It's no wonder that the Grinch despised the very thought;
Advertisers make you think that happiness is bought.

Thus, they start the drumming earlier so you will shop;
Best thing about Christmas Day is that the drumbeats stop.
We're exchanging home-made gifts in my large family.
This year we'll be putting thought beneath the Christmas tree.

Around here...after summer days when the sun did not set until 10:30 pm...and you have to wait forever for the fireworks to begin...around this time of year when that old SADness begins to gnaw at the bone...passing by a brightly decorated house makes up for the lack of sunshine.

Last week when I went to my favorite supermarket in our city, they had put up all Christmas decoration and
played Christmas carols. That made me smile cause it's still couple of week until it's December. Almost every supermarket
and smaller stores we have in our town have put up their Christmas decoration. But last month around Halloween when I went
to another Supermarket, they had Halloween decorations and Christmas decoration next to each other. So I got the feeling
that you can choose for yourself what holiday you want to celebrate, Halloween or Christmas.

I try hard not to be stampeded through the year by all the commercial hype. Having said that, I stood in line to buy tickets to a December holiday play on a sweltering day in early September because all the performances would be sold out the next day.
A radio station here started playing Christmas music the day after Halloween. :nope: Life's short enough as it is… why rush through it?!
