What happened to the official start of christmas being Santa's arrival after the Macy's Day Thanksgiving Day parade???
Love the idea of hand made gifts. Special meanings for all.
This year, I'm making Doctor Who scarves for two of my kids, an infinity scarf for another, and aprons for my BH and youngest son. Oldest boy got a denim quilt last year, so I think he's good for another year--lol. I love homemade gifts :)

My daughter called me tonight about hubby's Christmas gift because she has to order it now to get it shipped before Christmas. First of all, he is not her dad, but she adores him like I do. Anyhoo, he is a Toronto Maple Leafs fan (as am I) and every time she shops for him, that's usually her theme. She puts a lot of thought into what she gets because she wants to make it perfect for him. Ain't she the greatest? This year she found a toaster that toasts the Leafs logo on the bread. Better than a tee shirt, huh? I can't wait to see his reaction to that one!

I can't agree more. I started seeing Christmas stuff before Halloween! Drives me nuts. So I do the mental equivelent of putting my fingers in my ears and singing la la la to do my best to ignore it. When I was a little girl it was Santa after the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade. I understand there does need to be some forward planning, but TV and radio and shop stuff so early?

Ok, so I'm on my own here? I loooove Christmas...the tree is up at my house and has been for just over a week...none of this 12 days before and after bizzo for me! My shopping is all done, though typically I'll do more anyways cos I love being at the malls once they get all busy with late night hours and carols playing! I do however, take my tree down on Boxing Day. Finished, over and out for another year.
We have a big display that goes up here in another week or two...and huge walk through place thats separated into various themes. Kiddo and I go there a bunch of times, always...and def on Christmas Eve. Love it!
Its time off, its presents (giving and receiving are fun!), its food!, its family, its sunshine and cricket on the front lawn, its drinks and catch ups, decorations and good moods, songs and school productions. Whats not to adore! Plus, its Santa! x

I love Christmas. I always have and I think I always will, but I don't like being forced into thinking about it at Halloween.
Christmas season officially begins for me on December 1. That's when I start my planning, shopping and getting decorations ready.

I'm with you. I refuse to do anything related with Christmas until after Thanksgiving.

Kudos for internet shopping!!! I loves me some amazon, Wal-Mart, Barnes and Noble and other online stores. "Would you liked that shipped to your front doorstep Mr. Ghost19?", "I certainly would! Please and thank you." Fighting holiday shopping crowds is just about enough to drive me bananas....I read somewhere several years back that that a military study on the alpha waves produced by fighter pilots in actual air to air combat situations were almost identical to the alpha waves produced by the male brain while Christmas shopping. The brain stress levels were almost identical....I'm not a pilot, but I'd believe it...

I will say I am anxious to put up my boyfriend, Mr. Christmas tree. But, not until after thanksgiving. And I try to get my shopping done early so I don't have to deal with cranky people and get all hot and agitated in the mall waiting in crowds and standing in lines.

I love my Christmas tree. Someday, we're going to get married and have a bunch of little boughs. Through a surrogate bush of course.

I love Christmas. The love, family being together, a celebration of my Christ's birth, seeing the kids excited.
I really do love this time of year. I get just as frustrated with others at the crowds and the insanity, but I refuse to let it ruin the times for me. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year. Love 'em.
