I bought a bottle of Lagavulin 16 on sale a few weeks ago. "On sale" means "still pretty expensive." Saved it for dad's day, because something this good and costly is to be shared. Adopted Son a/k/a Son-in-Law loves the stuff, too, so I cracked it and we sipped. Not too much.

My current resolution is really to throttle back on the yeast excrement, both for weight control and to reassure myself that I can. I may have said that before, but it is a recurring theme.

Talisker Scotch

This is what Andy drank last night - he got in to Winnipeg about 11:30 and was home just before midnight.

We sat on the deck outside and listened to the Police helicopter fly overhead. I gave the tomatoes another drink and crocheted a long rope with yarn to tie them up with - some of the tomatoes are getting quite large and very heavy.

In Asia, at least for the places I've been along the western Pacific rim, they sell low-grade hooch (beer, wine, and here in Korea, soju) in convenience stories. They also sell meals there.

It was a tough day. I got a bottle of soju along with dinner to take back to the hotel room. Soju = Korean vodka. Not much taste, so it's light, cold, with a bit of alcohol rasp, so it doesn't even feel like you're drinking, so it's plenty dangerous, which is why I limited myself to one $1.50 bottle.

Classy all the way, that's me.

Sounds delicious - I wonder what the alcohol content is?

Wikipedia says "an ABV of 4.0% "

Like beer, there are different varieties.

The first time I bought soju, I got the cheapest bottle, you know, just to be safe. I winced at the first sip and thought, "What is the rage?"

Well, always being happy to repeat a mistake, I spent a little more money and tried a different one. Now we're talking. It wasn't completely delicious or anything, but it was cold and satisfying, and I could see after two or three of them, I'd be listening to the angels.
