When eating dinner out, what kind of eatery do you choose? I cooked at La Boheme here in Edmonton and that is the sorta place I enjoy to eat as well. A supposedly haunted old heritage hotel with four dining areas...and French cuisine. Other than that type, I love Italian eateries with old world charm and candlelight. Tell me your favs.

I like a place that's comfortable and has good food. Friendly wait staff and (sorry moms) no young kids running around like it's a zoo. I don't really care what style of cuisine it is, though I'm less likely to go for something with spicy food.
Chain that it is, Red Lobster's biscuits are the BEST!

Wow staro, I ate there all the time back in my college days. Great food. These days, Montana's Cookhouse in St. Albert and Capital Pizza near Londonderry Mall are my faves.
Yep, I made a mean creme brulle there lol. I hated cooking for all the bloody banquets though...and I was not one bit afraid of the ghosts. For pizza nothing beats Royal Pizza here.

I like the mom & pop places you come across when you're out and about. I like watching the regulars that go to those places probably more than the food. Places that have been there forever...the kind where you can sit at the counter and look off to the side and see the cook's belly (clad in a feelthy white tee-shirt, stained apron) dancing a jig when you drop a quarter in the jukebox and play Nancy Sinatra..."These Boots Are Made for Walking". Heh! You couldn't see his face at all...and I'm assuming it was a "he"....maybe the hairy arms gave it away? There's photos framed on the wall...Cooter Atwater and his teammates from the winning team of '26. Then, there was this place in Des Moines, a favorite among the regulars...counter is worn from years of use? Busy? Oh you betcha. I've wondered if that place has featured on the news when Iowa is in the political news. I like it when the waitress calls me honey or sweetheart...and that doesn't happen often at the places where the quality goes...even though I clean up okay...or, I think I do...maybe it's my quality restaurant knowledge...like I order from the drink menu...instead of asking for a draft beer in a frosty mug...and the waitress brings out this thing that I'd use to keep flowers...that...or they question my choices...are you sure you want a whole platter of oysters, and the cajun soup, and the flounder, and the mighty burger from the kids' menu? They don't call me honey in those places.

We have a very cool family owned seafood restaurant close to me that has been around 40 years. It's a tiny place with just a few tables. When the restaurant first started out many moons ago, it was only open on the weekends. The reason being that the owners fished and served what they caught. For a long time they didn't have a beer & wine license so you if you wanted wine or beer, you had to bring it yourself, which was ok with them. It was kind of like going over to someone's house to eat (except you had to pay for it ). Now it's open all week and they serve the freshest seafood you can get. It's a great place but I don't eat there very often because it is so difficult to get in to the place.

Red Lobster, Logan's, Rocky Creek Cat Fish, and Los Rancheros are my favorite places to eat. There was one particular Los Rancheros that was ran by Mexicans who were a little too Mexican, if you catch my drift, and that one was my favorite. That one is closed down now. Now I have to have Mexican food made by Americans.::P

There is also a seafood place that is located under a bridge on Dog River. Folks pull up to the restaurant by their boats on one side and their cars on the other. It is called The Mariner. Pretty good little place with great atmosphere. There is inside dining and outside dining. Outside dining is where it is at because you look down and see the river below the wooden floor and all the people on their boats. As well as the river itself.
