Oh - okay - sorry - forgot you're not a crazy fan who likes to collect books (like so many here do) - I think after a while it almost seems like an obsession.

I was looking at my collection just recently and realized it's just one more thing to dust (sigh) :biggrin2:
No need to be sorry. :smile2: I thought you meant I would have one because I work for Steve but it is true that I'm not a book collector so even the copies I do have since I started are not all signed.

No need to be a collector. After retirement you can write a book about all the enjoyment, enrichment, trials and tribulations from being Stephen’s assistant for decades... and make loads of money. (Just remember it's spelled DiO...) ;;D

I will buy the book, but I will also get the audio CDs. I have decided I need to get as many of his books as I can on audio so that way when I'm lounging in my nursing home and can't read anymore and no one is visiting and the nurses are letting me lay there in my pee, I will still have top notch entertainment.

Unfortunately, I didn't take notes along the way so even were I so inclined, I wouldn't trust my memory to write a book. Fortunately, I'll have all my bills/mortgages paid off and enough Social Security (at least for the moment) and pension benefits from Steve's employee plan by the time I retire so won't be needing to do a tell all book. :smile2:

Like I said a few posts back , it should be all about the gift of the book itself given to us by the author. The tour, the possible signed books are extras. Put yourself in an authors shoes. The grind of that tour, the demands placed on him/ her. One can collect books without signatures. It is within those words on paper that the rewards can be found. Too many demands can mean less "gifts" from that author. Enjoy what is given.

Not a tell all book. I was thinking something along the lines of Good Ol' Freda. A great documentary if you ever get a chance to see it.

She sounds like my type of person. I can definitely relate to what she's saying in the article and will try to catch the documentary.
Please do. And it's true... something like that documentary regarding Stephen King's assistant, told by someone of your caliber, is something hundreds of thousands of people would be interested in. :)

And here we go again, I must agree to disagree. ;;D
:smile2:
I would like to get in touch with Freda to see if she could tell me if the postcard I have with all four of the Beatles signatures is really theirs. I've had it since 1965 and it's taking up room in my safe deposit box that I could use for something else if it isn't authentic. I've heard that they had a staff that did them to hand out so might be one of those instead. That's what I've been saving for my extra retirement money. :smile2:

I'll bet if you reached out to her, telling her who you are and what you do, she'll respond... being a sorta kindred spirit.

(Put DJ on the case. She would probably have her mailing address by the end of the day. :))

I almost spit out my soup (I had a mouthful of pureed broccoli and carrot soup when I read that!) :tickled_pink:

Sadly, you accurately describe life in many nursing homes these days. There are still good ones but so many are now being sold to a couple of shadowy groups that turn them into a cash cow for the owners and living hell for the residents. :(

….and just think, the restraint belt they have you lashed to your bed with-makes a handy book holder.....

You'll make more money on writing the book, Marsha. Plus, there's always the future royalties to think about (reprints), whereas selling the postcard is a one shot deal. Who knows, it could be sold to LalaLand for a movie treatment! To quote Jack Nicholson in the original Batman 'Think about the future!' Oh, I'm available for proofreading and editing! ;-D

Not to be morbid, but it's also going to be worth more (assuming it's authentic) when all four Beatles have gone to the clearing. I really don't think a book would ever happen. I can't think of a way to share enough stories to fill a book without compromising confidentiality of some sort and that is something I wouldn't even consider.
