Here, there and everywhere.
Ours looks pretty much like this, but older.

My kids love popcorn, but I'm not a big fan.

We have the same model, Flake. It's over 25 years old. I started re-using it after all of the bad news about chemicals in microwave popcorn. I like to air pop, then add lots of melted butter and then kosher salt and cracked black pepper. Yum!

Also - ever since Steve did the article about "the heavy bag," it's become a thing for us at the movies. Gotta get the heavy bag! Of course, we're nauseous by the time the movie's halfway through...

We have a local second-run theater that makes a point of using real butter on their theatre popcorn--swear to heaven, it's some of the best stuff I've ever tasted. And not even wallet-bustingly expensive!

I know! - we got one of those smooth top electric ranges and it was not until after we got it home and read the instructions that it turned out we could not use my old reliable cast iron frying pan on it
Honestly - it is hard to keep clean, too and if you spill anything you must wait for it to cool. Give me back my old range any day. Oh well, that's life, eh?

Live and learn

It does look quite pretty when it's all shiny and smooth. When it comes to stoves I prefer functionality over looks any day!
I don't wanna hijack the thread so don't lemme, but my stove top is dying. Just the other day I was checking online for the right cooktop to buy and decided. But I'm wondering what the pros and cons are to using a smooth cooktop vs the kind with the coil burners. Anyone...?

I don't know Blunt - Andy (who is a chef!) thinks it is okay.

Maybe I am just too picky and impatient but I dislike having to wait for the burner to cool down before wiping up spills.

It does also take quite a while to heat up (the oven part). Some people just love them, as a woman at work told me. Her daughter thinks hers is great.

Andy went to finalize the deal as we got it at Sears and he took the extended warranty program - crap - now it is insured for at least five years (darn it).
