Everyone does publicity for their new book/TV show/movie. It's part of the junket to appear on chat shows. Usually stipulated in the contract between the publisher/producer/studio.
I heard that the writer, Thomas Harris, never does interviews. I think KIng should only do radio interviews and maybe interviews on more 'classier' television shows. I understand that it is a good way to promote a book but I think it makes a writer look too 'commercial' and therefore they a seen as not 'serious'. This is my perception.

I had a dream that I was in college again and there was a guy with a gun on campus. We all ran like heck to get outta there. Then I woke up at three in the morning and paced around the house.

Four years ago, there was a lockdown at the technical college where I was doing my legal studies. It was the worst hour of my life. I was afraid that I was going to die. Fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm. There was no active shooting. Across the street a drama troupe was rehearsing a WWI play in the auditorium. The actors were firing a replica gun that was loaded with blanks. It was loud and sounded very real. They should tell people or send out a memo before they do stuff like that. Three buildings on my campus had to be evacuated and we had to do a makeup class because of the one that was interrupted/cancelled.

At my last job, when there was only two of us actual employees working there, the owners son -a longhaired cowboy wanna be- came in a side door and unloaded two Gilead style six shooters fulla blanks.BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM! etc. Made me jump, but having been raised around all manner of firearms, it didn't really phase me. My coworker, now...he about had a heart attack! See, some years before, the guy had accidentally killed a friend in a hunting accident, so I can imagine he was a bit gun shy. Heh heh. Life in the Hoosier state.
