Americans have no sense of humour, they can't make good comedy shows like the British. Everything comes across as fake. With the canned laughter. Thankfully television is a dead medium and Hollywood is going the way of the Dodo. It is sad that cinemas are dying out because you have a better experience at the cinema watching in the dark. In Danse Macabre, King said something like when you emerge from dark cinema you are in some sort of altered reality for about one hour. I read somewhere that the audience numbers going to cinemas has declined 10% here in Australia over the last two years, and it is falling. People can access Netflix etc and this crap about how everyone is 'connected' because of social media, they actually talks less to people face-to-face. The image of the under thirty female is this: a smug looking person who looks like she just done a **** in her pants because the world has outraged her and all men are potential rapists. They walk along the sidewalk staring down at their phones.

Do Australians have no sense of spelling?
I do not know what you are referring too, my good fellow. Please explain. This is the attitude of the typical American: to hide their insecurity, they will become passive-aggressive, and try to mock. Because I'm a trained school-teacher, I can recognise childish behaviour. I have nothing against America/Americans for kicking my father out of your country.

Ayuh, I suppose you mean cable by “television”. I really don’t have a problem with streaming services, I really don’t, it’s just sad how it’s completely monopolized the movie/television industries. Netflix has some good stuff on it, but chances are less people are gonna watch your show or movie if it isn’t on there. Streaming services are a good thing, but they’re control over the industry has probably made it harder for a lot of newer content creators. I still use cable to record movies.

Speaking of the effects of Streaming services, my little sister couldn’t believe the idea of having to wait every week for a new episode whenever a show she’s liked got a 2nd season. Ironic really, considering she used to wait for new cartoons every week all the time.

Movies are most enjoyable in a theater, I agree. Especially when it’s mostly empty. My favorite local movie theater was replaced with a different one twoish years ago, and the nearest one in the chain is about an hour away.

I think Social Media really does connect us, it has allowed people to make a lot of new friends they wouldn’t have otherwise. It’s virtually the same thing as a pen pal, I have a few friends in other countries that I can easily talk to because of it. The problem is that some people have made it a replacement for irl social interaction. I believe one of the reasons it’s so addicting is because it’s so easy to access, most sites have cookies so you don’t even need to log in.

There’s really no point in only being negative about future advancements, they’re going to happen no matter what you believe. That’s not to say there’s a lot of problems and side effects of them, especially when they replace older things we’re attatched to. I don’t want to see the replacement of a lot of things for sure. I agree it’s be nice to progress a little slower, and for less technology addiction, and other things. I just feel people have a constant negative biased outlook on the the modern world, not to say they are aren’t justified, plenty are, but there are a lot of things people blow way out of proportion.

You said “know”, instead of “no”. Not some childish remark to hide insecurities, rather a jokingly sarcastic remark in response to you insulting my country. I have nothing against Australia, or you, either.

Talking about the feminist/SJW type persona? I don’t want to start a political flame war or step out of line, but I would not associate women in general enough to consider it the “image” of them. They’re both subcultures with beliefs blown way out of proportion and the gall to accuse innocent people of horrible things merely because of their race/gender/sexual orientation (ironic when you think about it) , not the image of the modern woman.

Not really making a great argument by bringing up a country stereotype. I’m not going to associate the people of a country with a “typical” trait and then proceed to try and use it in a argument , unless it’s done so in an ironic fashion to make a joke. While yours was not that bad, it’s like associating all Germans with being Nazis, its not a great outlook and certainly not an argument winner, because it isn’t true.

Not to pile on here as you are entitled to your opinion...(Think that there American piece of paper guarantees it, or at least the right to express it, you know around these parts anyway.)

But...

This post took on let's see: American's sense of humor, TV is dead as well as Hollywood but movie theater is a better experience than streaming (And if I am honest I can't wrap my head around the point here), Social media, which has led to smug women who consider all of us of opposite gender "potential rapists"...

See I somehow find this a wee bit funny...

No canned laughter needed. :)

I believe panda was pointing out the differences in spelling between what we refer to as old English in comparison to generally accepted for lack of better words "new English".

See on my Dell laptop there are red squiggly lines under two of the words in quote above...

That tells me these just ain't spelled quite right...

Yeah I'm not too good at passive-aggressive. Been told I'm an excellent mocker though so there's that.

Sorry about your father. Really.

Gee wow, I got argumentative there, sorry Blake. Sorry for whatever happened to your father.

What I have left from high school???

Hmmm...

Let's see...

A Member's Only burgundy jacket...

My Easton state runner up aluminum bat...

Something else...

Oh yeah...

The wife!
I have a Members Only jacket from high school. Mine is black, and belonged to a guy friend. We're still friends, and every now and then he asks about that jacket.

One of the oddest things I found about when I attended high school were girls that normally looked like this..

Turned themselves into this for the prom…
