Twenty years ago today Stephen was hit by a van while walking a country road in Maine. We remain grateful he survived.
I remember hearing about it at the time and I had to sit down and take a minute, a world without SK was something I just never contemplated, but here we are all these years later, SK is still writing and publishing and we remain the constant reader. Goes to prove you can't keep a good man down.:)

I remember stopping in my tracks when I heard this on the news. All cares and concerns were put aside. Pretty much stayed riveted to the news channels for the next few days. Couldn't believe the man, the myth, the legend, the wordslinger of all wordslingers had almost been killed. I think I remember a couple of news agencies reported that Mr. King had died. Does anyone remember that or am I just remembering wrongly? Either way, I'm very glad he survived, this world is a much better place with Mr. King in it and spinning such wonderful stories.

....soooooooo, the clean up continues at "The Ranch", still can't call it my house yet.....and I decided I was going to tackle Dad's wine cabinet....he was quite the amateur vinter in his day.....I knew there was gonna be trouble as soon as I cracked the door open.......yee doggies!....the smell alone would make you dance like Kurben in his Mexican git-up or like a strung out Hep Cat....I decided to get rid of what was left of the home brew, because I didn't want to sicken anyone if it had "gone over"......ye gods and little fishes!.....it still smelled GOOD....however, when the corks are disintegrating and there is sludge at the bottom of the bottles that reminded me WAY to much of Gray Matter, I chose to pour it all into huge glass jugs he had used for the original fermentation.....will be pouring that over the hill back of the house.....then when the mutant chipmunks come after me, waving acorns drunkenly about-I'll have no-one to blame but myself.....oldest bottle I found was from 1976.....it's a shame they went bad, cuz he made a hell of a good drop of the grape.....

Got anymore of that, kind sir??? :biggrin2:

I was talking to a lady at work about hobbies, free time, etc. Told her about my love of SK books. She said she'd never heard of him! WHAT??! Then she proceeded to tell me she's never read an entire book. And keep in mind she homeschools her SIX children. Seriously?! :O_O: Sorry if I sound snarky, but the whole thing is making me lightheaded.

Thankful still.

ghost19 -- how are you feeling? All healing go well? Continued good thoughts!
Still on the upswing ma'am. Thank you for asking. My doc is still optimistic I'll be completely off insulin by August.
Dropping weight slowly but consistently while maintaining a very strict diet. Invested in an Apple iWatch to track steps and activity to make sure I'm getting up and getting around every hour and a half like I'm supposed to. Still improving as far as residual effects from the blood clots in my lungs. How have you been?

Nah, we'll never be hip again, Dio...so my son tells me when I try to connect with his generation in any way...lol
My youngest says I the most un-hip person walking the earth. So I learned some of the new groovy phrases of this generation. I am sure to make use of them when talking to her because it drives her crazy. She often says “Dad, please stop” when I do because I work at using them wrong to elicit a reaction. Embarrassing and driving our kids crazy is a parent’s job, right? :)

Absolutely. It's our right as a dad to be completely non-hip...lol
