I don't know about that baseball field but there is a really nice indoor pool. The water temperature is just perfect and it's not far from the kitchen.......

I think he used it a lot for his physical therapy after the incident with the van, didn't he?Yes, part of an interview he did for Belgian tv takes place in the pool (well, in front of it). He says he only had it built for Tabitha, because he didn't use it himself often.
...the library statement is a common myth...actually is a guest house and I'm sure there are a few books scattered about....Here are some particularly beautiful photos of the Bangor house:
Photos of Author Stephen King's home in Bangor, Maine (USA)
And they prove the sun actually SHINES on his home. Just look at those pictures with a horror soundtrack (I now have Pino Donaggio's Trauma on) and it gives a great effect - music does so much for image.
It says on that forum that he bought and uses the other house for his library. The house that feels like Psycho to me is the one on the other side.
Can't find pics of his Portland home. But he probably kept it out of the media, so he can actually have privacy there.
Here's that video I was talking about:

I think the houses in Stephen's neighborhood are gorgeous and not creepy, like the lady in the video says.
....I don't know so much that it was bought with the intent of turning it to a guest house, more like cornering the housing TO the corner.....i.e. those conjoined lots would be all King and no-one else....and if I recall the story correctly, they were approached by family of the owners, wondering if the King's would be interested in purchasing the house....Considering how big his house is (it doesn't even look so big from the front, but it goes back a long way) it seems strange he needs a separate guest house too.
And it seems the baseball field is there, but not directly behind the house, I think there are some woods first. But I can't find a picture showing from the sky how far it is to the field.
And there is also a statue of a leaping frog all the way to the left just behind the fence.

....Google Earth gives you a pretty good peek at the woods belt between the mansion and Hayford Park.....and the Shawn T. Mansfield Stadium, built in 1991 with funds provided by Unca Steve.....Considering how big his house is (it doesn't even look so big from the front, but it goes back a long way) it seems strange he needs a separate guest house too.
