You're new to the forum but I will let you know now that we don't run things like a lot of other forums/message boards and personal attacks on other members/moderators and name calling is not tolerated and can result in being banned.

You had quoted my post, not Spidey's.
The "mods" on this forum are letting myself and others know it really isn't a very welcoming forum to be a part of, that is, unless we subscribe to your way of thinking. I respond in kind to the type of comments I get. Don't like it, maybe you should check yourself. If you want to run a forum such as this, perhaps a little attitude adjustment might be in order

I'm approving this only so that you can let your true colors shine through.

I will have worked for Stephen for 31 years as of November 1st so I think I may have a little more insight as to his side of the story than you do. What I have seen personally is how much of a toll it takes physically to do book tours, of what the process is like when he's working on a book and what he does for his fans. Obviously the signature is what has importance to you and you are disappointed that you didn't get one in spite of knowing from the get-go that it wasn't a guarantee. Your ticket price bought you a seat at the event and a book, that's all. You were not "owed" anything beyond that. There will come a point where Stephen will not do this at all, but he will continue to write books because that's what he cherishes and the majority of his fans appreciate that he continues to do it even though he doesn't have to at this stage in his career.
As you have let yours through as well in earlier posts. Again, funny the posts on the event and the Youtube video turned off comments. Gee, what a shocker. That I have to explain to you my point of view on this only demonstrates your innate lack of empathy for anyone but yourself. I've worked in the TV and Entertainment industry for years and unfortunately, have come across far too many such as you. Out of touch with reality and how anyone but yourself feels. Of course you don't recognize it, but I'm sure I'm not the first who's brought it to your attention and that you ignored. It's people like you that is the sole reason I didn't further pursuem my career in that field, as sadly they are the norm. Out of touch, and self-agrandizing

Kind of sorry I started the thread now. My sole purpose was to expose the poor planning on the part of the bookstore, not anything to do with SK or JH. They were warned about servers going down and believed their server company over the King experts. They scheduled both deluxe and regular ticket purchases at the same time eliminating a chance for those who focused on one type of ticket (should have been done over 2 days). They "oversold" the event and reneged on tickets already bought and paid for. The employees were dismissive and rude to fans and readers questioning their incompetence. I saw Joe Hill on 10/11 in New Hampshire at Barns and Noble and got a personalized signed copy of Full Throttle...no ticket required. If they Indy bookstores cant handle events like this, they shouldn't do them.

I never said it was anyone here's fault, I was responding to their attitudes and pompous responses

Dude! Your first and second posts had attitude and pomposity, I haven't been on this forum as long as others but I can assure you that people have strong views/feelings all the time but there's a way to get them across.

Have a look through various threads and you'll see that! May I suggest The Dark Tower movie thread, as a fan you can probably guess what some of the views are!

We didn't post the video (that was done by PSB) and had nothing to do with turning off the comments.

I've been hearing comments like yours for decades now and I recognize exactly where they're coming from.

And these are valid points brought forward with intelligent discussion.

I KNOW that, I was referring to them. Holy crap. It's funny, and telling, how the "mods" here keep turning everything into THEM. lol. It's like you can't help by reinforce what I've been telling you

My understanding is that ABA/IndieCommerce is sending the 250 people whose orders were canceled due to the snafu a $20 credit that can be used at any independent bookstore in the US and an apology for this.

It's hilarious here, if you look at my first comment, it referred to the way the event was handled, and the disappointment of the fans. That very same sentiment was expressed on PSB social media and elsewhere, and by other attendees. But the mods here chose to take it personally, and THEY were the one, with their pompous self-agrandizing, self-riteous and self-agrandizing attitudes caused it to turn to what it is now. I didn't come here to call out the board moderators, but their responses begged it. Wow. Another reason I hate these message boards. So ridiculous and childish

I can see that you are upset that no one here is agreeing with you and feel that you are the one out of line rather than vindicating your outrage at not getting a signed copy.

And one last thing, as the lameness level has increased past my tolerance for boredom. Authors do these events to SELL BOOKS. Not because they're doing any great thing for the fans. I personally know a couple of authors who are well published and put these things on, though admittedly, not of SK's stature. But the intention is the same. They write to make a living, and they make a living from the fans who purchase the books, and attend the movies, etc. They did the event to sell their books. People who have been reading those books as long as I have develop an emotional attachment to the stories and the author. It's one the Author makes his bread and butter on. That's the reality of the thing, so something personal such as a mere autograph means something to someone who has been touched by the stories. AGAIN, we weren't given a fair shot, and to leave some fans hanging because of it is just poor. I wasn't looking to resell the thing, but keep it as a personal momento of the event and my attachment to his work, which is his personal gift. The way it was handled left a sour taste NOT only in my mouth, but many others as well. Perhaps, if you "work for him" or are in touch with him, or are his assistant, you might take that into consideration before firing off your cavalier responses. As for some of the rest, I would expect nothing less on a message board today. It's the sad commentary on where society is. Sad

And perhaps you might consider having some empathy for the author for whom it has become physically difficult to do these events but yet continues to even though he doesn't have to in order to sell his books.

People calling out your attitude and self entitlement are a sad commentary on where society is?

You sound like you've got some issues my friend, log off and go get some fresh air.
