Very nice. I just love seeing folks' bookshelves. Top notch job!
Thanks! I think I got the wood working bug from my grandpa. He had been a cabinet maker way back when. He had a medium sized barn where the lower part was all machinery. He had two of every type of machine you could think of. Like two 36 inch band saws. I can't even find 36 inch band saws now. The upper floor of that barn was full of dressers, sideboards, chest of drawers, buffets & more. Some of that stuff had stuff in it. All of it was things that people asked him to fix but never came back to get. Anyway, it all went for drink. He would order a case of whiskey and the next week a truck would come and take another piece of machinery away.

Most of us are creative in some way. Some more or less than others. The whole reason I came to this site was in hopes of showing a photo to SK. But who more able to review my work than a bunch of SK fans. I just finished a double book shelf after working on and off for 6 months. Just in time for Halloween! The book shelves were primarily for my SK novels and I had no idea in the beginning how they would turn out. After all how do you make book shelves scary? I enjoy making what I hope is art out of wood. Hopefully it's Heirloom quality. How do you like to let your creativity show?
VERY NICE! You do good work, sir :)

Yes, most of them are. I have Dracula in there too. I intend on getting more classics to fill it out some. The red set you see there on the right is something I picked up while stationed in Holy Loch Scotland while in the Navy. Dennis Wheatly is a british horror fiction writer.
Dennis Wheatly ROCKS! I especially like THE HAUNTING OF TOBY JUGG--what a story!

Super job 2 gun, they look great and are a credit to you workmanship. If you're anything like me, those empty shelves will be soon be full and you'll be back in the workshop building more.
Good choice in Dennis Wheatley too, like you I haven't read any of his books for years, but I remember The Satanist, The Devil Rides Out, Strange Conflict and The Haunting of Toby Jugg scaring me out my wits when I was a teenager.
Welcome.

I just love the bookshelf Dan, you obviously spent a lot of time and had great patience building it, well done it looks great! I've read that some SK members have, like me, read The Haunting Of Toby Jugg which was lent to me by my boyfriend back in the sixties and scared me half out of my wits!!
And from one newbie to another................

Thanks, and welcome to you too. I've only been here a week, maybe two. I got interested in Dennis Wheatly while in Scotland in the late 70's. I was based in Holy Loch Scotland while in the Navy. That didn't give me a lot of time to read but I bought the books for later reading anyway. Now it's been nearly 40 years gone by. Damn!

Really nice work Dan. I like all the detailed curves and points running down the sides and middle. I was just looking at my bland white Ikea bookshelves the other night and thinking they weren't quite appropriate for my SK collection. Someday I'll have to remedy that!
Never can get enough of kings works,no matter how fancy of shelf. Or how many shelves you get.:)

As King family fan says, "no matter how fancy of shelf". SK books stand on thier own. Mine have been kept in military bunk lockers, stored in crates, been presented on four sets of book shelves through the years as my collection grew. Pine, oak and now black walnut. Finally, I've been able to encase them in something more fitting. I wanted a book shelf that looked a bit scary, aggressive and a little intimidating. I wanted people to be aprehensive if they got close. Like maybe they would get spooked! And maybe they will if they open one of those books. :)
