One story my old friend Vito told me was that the Beatles travelled to India to study under a guru. John witnessed this guru sneaking women into his palace and eating meat and decided to leave. When the guru learned of this he said "Why are you leaving?" to which John replied "If you're so goddamn englightened you tell me."

I like them both, and will not choose between the two. They are representative of the two rawest, elemental sides of rock n' roll: The Beatles are about Love, The Rolling Stones are about Sex. For me, it's unfair to pit the two against each other because every single person who has ever picked up a guitar or drum-stick has been influenced (whether they want to admit it or not) by those two bands. They will always be the two greatest rock bands ever to me.
I've read more books about The Beatles than the Stones. Must mean something.
Yeah, when The Beatles wanted to marry your daughter, the Stones wanted to burn your town.
Very hard choice. I'm glad I don't live back in the day whenit was either or. If I had a gun to my head it would have to be Stones because the blues roots they started iut with is evident in every song they've written.
That was more their earlier albums, The Beatles had a lot more songs expressing sex and violence in their later albums; examples being Helter Skelter, She came in through the bathroom window, Why don’t we do it in the road, Maxwells Silver Hammer, etc..
The Stones also had some more of the wholesome love songs like Angie.
Right. I love "Angie," which Jagger pronounces like it's An-gi-eh.
Yeah, it's more like Ain-geh. When my wife first heard it she was completely thrown by his accent. My father, on the underhand, believed he was an amazing singer. Go figure.
