sheepish goodmorning

I apologize for the flurry of very angry, very drunk posts in the other thread last night. I'm not really angry with any of you (though you may now be angry at me).

The incident in Manchester....
I don't even want to try and express that, but again it was wrong to take it out on you guys . Please forgive me for that.
It's a new day and a new page for replies on the SKMB. The past is in the past. Onward to love and green lights!

Under your bed
...here's one of many from my home county here in Ohio.....sadly, many of them are falling victim to the years and the original artist has long since journeyed to the clearing.....

Straight UP, Moose! There's one I pass when driving along the grande Lincoln Highway between two towns here in Hoosierville. An artist I know used to freshen it up every few years, but he doesn't anymore. Think maybe he's working for the Bull Durham people now.

....I think we had a "re-painter" as well, but that has fallen by the wayside, much like the barns are falling into the fields of history.....

I remember seeing similar barn "billboards" as a kid. On the way to the Smoky Mountains, once we'd pass Chattanooga, we'd see Burma-Shave signs and things like See Rock City. They, too, have fallen into disrepair.

How about 2600 Miles to Wall Drug - Free Ice Water!

I been there.
No, but I like that one. Did you make it up? I love the pre-Interstate, pre-Stuckey's era of travel and family vacations. Most of my impressions are born in my imagination and fabricated through family lore but I think those times were probably more adventurous and inherently more dangerous. The fifties and sixties had great cars, too. I think of the hitchhikers or Kerouac-types driving across the lost highways, unfolded map on the hood of a Chevy, eating at all-night greasy spoons. It just seems exciting.
