I had a friend tell me about MyFitnessPal, & I like it a lot. You input what you weigh now, how much you'd like to lose per week and your level of movement during the day, and they calculate what your intake should be. You log your foods & your exercise, and it tells you how you're doing (notes correct balance--generally, of course--of calories in and out, fats, sugars, carbs, etc). My friend tried it because last Dec her doc told her she had diabetes, HBP, cholesterol issues & doc wanted to start her on a cocktail of drugs. Friend freaked out--she has a severely autistic son who is also somewhat of a savant at locks, so nothing is safe from him & everything goes in his mouth. One mistake, and he could die. Long story short (too late), she begged for a chance to change things naturally. As of today, she's lost 80 lbs, diabetes is gone, BP is normal, cholesterol good. She did it by tracking everything and moving all the time (walking, mainly). I figured if MFP helped her that much, I can use it , too
