Well...what did everyone think? I enjoyed it. I thought it was better than most of the episodes last season, except for the premiere and finale of last season. Being a fan of the comics, I really hope they follow through with
the time jump to the aftermath of the war with the Saviors.

Stopped watching TWD last season. The whole Negan storyline turned me off to the show. I dunno, changes in storylines have turned me off from this show, Zoo, The Last Ship, Fear The Walking Dead, and Z Nation. Thank goodness Forged In Fire hasn't changed much. :p

I loved the episode.
I like seeing Rick back in business and ready to fight. It was hard to see him in seasons past when he was completely beat down. I spent the whole episode terrified that one of main characters was going to be killed, since no one seems immune to being killed at any time. I like that feeling! Building up to this episode I went back and watched some of the past episodes, including the beating death of Abraham and Glenn. Bawled my eyes out. That episode was so traumatic to me. Can't wait for next Sunday!

Well, that was better than pretty much all of last season, though tbh that's really not saying much. I watched it back on a binge over the summer, and my original gripes didn't go anywhere. It wasn't the pace that bothered me so much (torpid though it was); it was the bounds of illogic that occurred even within that 'world'.
And, sad to say, that appears to have continued. A promising start was undermined by everyone rocking up to Negan's camp. Yeah, they'd taken out the lookouts. Blah blah. But what about the numbers we saw in reserve at the end of last season's finale? Were they all on a lunch break? Why would you not take Michonne, who spent a lot of last season training herself to be a sharpshooter? (Just in time, too, since Sasha copped it; contrived, much?) And when your enemy and all his lieutenants are standing roughly 30ft away, why would you not hose them down instead of standing around listening to yet another dull monologue?
Had that been followed by a trap being sprung, in a 'You rebel scum' kind of moment, fair one. As it was...no, the enemy is right there. Kill the shepherd and the sheep are yours. Zap him and his gaggle of idiots and that's it, they've already won.
But no! Out comes Negan's Impenetrable Plot Armour to save the (well, his) day, because suddenly ol' Ricky-Boy can't shoot for ****e and everyone else decides to blow off all the ammo they spent last season trying to get in smashing the Sanctuary's windows! Zap! Kapow! Take that, Savio(u)rs! That'll teach 'em!
Dumb. Just dumb. I'm guessing that scene was supposed to be tense. Instead it just had me (and my gf) going 'FFS, just f***ing shoot him!' and waiting for the inevitable climbdown. Which was a shame, because up to that point it had been a pretty decent return to something like form. (And taking Negan out in Ep.1 would have been one hell of a rug-puller.)
