I watched episode 9 which was awesome. I have abandoned any attempts to solve the mystery; just going to ride it out for the final episode. Also, how are we already at the final episode? Does anyone have a confirmation of whether there will be a second season/continuation of the story from this season?

Season 2 will not be related to Season 1 -- it will be an all-new story set in Castle Rock, perhaps even in a different time period.

I rewatched the latest episode.
When the police officer asks the kid about the last time he saw his father he says he can't recall and that it was probably when he was young Deaver's age. It's a stretch, especially if you've ruled out that he's the Devil.

Also, at the end of the episode when he's finishing his story to Molly, the camera catches his reflection in the window as he speaks. Usually this indicates a "two-face" liar. It could just be symbolic of him being on the "wrong side" of his reality.

Excited!!!! Anyone else been watching at midnight into Wednesdays?

With the semester starting back I clock out around 9pm, so unfortunately I won't be staying up. I've been lying to myself that the episode won't be released until 5pm on Wednesday so I don't go mad thinking about that'll just be sitting there! Enjoy the final episode at midnight! I am really excited to how things will end.

57. BAD DOG

by Tom Piccirilli

About the Book:

"Bad Dog is a new volume of Tom Piccirilli's most offbeat and unsettling short fiction and novellas spanning the breadth of his twenty-year career.

Twice nominated for crime fiction's highest honor, the Edgar Award, and twice winner of the International Thriller Writers Award, Piccirilli is a master of dark characterization and noir atmosphere.

Find out for yourself why Tom Piccirilli is on so many "must read" lists when you open the pages of Bad Dog and lose yourself in the diverse stories and characters within."

My Thoughts:

Caniglia gives us an intriguing cover. A story of its own.

And I'm sad to say, here is another terrific author gone too soon. My condolences to his family, friends and fans.

From beginning to end, this book existed as a sophisticated and moody creature. Story after story really powerful with skilled writing and strong plots. I can't even shout-out a favorite. They all gave me something.

And, I give him extra bonus points for bestowing creative titles on his stories.

Weighty slow-burns that delivered. I really liked the way he took us down the road less travelled.

Great story and you know that saying about always leaving them wanting more. I have to say I hadn't quite considered the twist until halfway through the episode. I can't help but feel that there's something still missing from the story that's right under our noses. Maybe "24 Hours From Tulsa" has a clue in it.

Tom was a great guy and a fantastic, under-rated writer. I loved The Last Kind Words and The Last Whisper in the Dark, two noir novels that came out late in his abbreviated career.

During my Year of CD here, I've read other things by him, but I felt this book was a very strong group of stories.

His wiki page didn't say what happened to him, is this something you can share?

I haven't always looked up a wiki page for these authors, but now I'm finding that many of these writers have passed. I'm actually a bit shocked at how many. CD should have an In Memoriam page.

He had brain cancer. Went into remission but it came back. Loveland author Tom Piccirilli dies Saturday, July 11

Someone help me! Just watched last episode.
What was that all about? Did the kid deliberately start the riot? Was he another Henry or really something evil? Or....was the whole thing a story written by Jackie?

I have a theory
Deaver disappeared as a boy but when he returned he didn't return back to the reality he came from. We know this after we see young Deaver push his father over the side of the rocks. This isn't the same world where Molly killed Deaver's father. I think Ruth might even have known it wasn't her adopted Deaver that returned to her as part of her "alzheimers". She told Wendell and Molly both that Time kept reoccurring for her. Let's not forget when Wendell called Ruth a Timewalker. Perhaps her reoccurring time was also the wealth of memories and experiences of all Ruths. When she is shifting through time her various selves seem to see her and acknowledge her presence, as if they too are experiencing the same thing.

I believe the kid definitely started the riot. We saw him give the same deliberate look he gave before the birthday party family massacre. Deaver is visibly terrified and even asks him "You did this?" When the whole thing ended with the keys sliding right to the kid's feet I was pretty sure he caused the riot.

Even Willy upstairs seemed to be able to identify the kid as evil. I believe Willy knew what the schisma really was. He was willing to pin Odin's murder on Deaver to make sure Deaver never went out to those woods.

Here's my theory on the kid: He's a Norse God or demi-god or demon (perhaps a type of changeling.) There are three reasons I believe this although I probably missed more. The Lewis Chessmen set was of Norse origin. Ruth used the chess pieces to help her stay focused, possibly like runes. The kid also used figurines to his own end.

During the kid's story he mentions his mom talking frequently about Norse Gods.

The Acoustic Expert was named Odin. Odin mutilated himself in order to become closer to the knowledge provided by the schisma. In Norse mythology Odin sacrifices himself on more than one occasion in order to receive understanding of the Mysteries. On one occasion he sacrifices his eye to be allowed to drink from a well. Castle Rock's Odin died with a screwdriver to the gouged-out eye.

We definitely saw that the schisma is some sort of converging space where bloody things have happened. The kid may have come through, or he may be the reason the schisma is a magnet for violence. He's trying to get back possibly.

I also wonder about the connection between Warden Lacy and Pastor Deaver. They both heard the schisma and both intepreted it as the Voice of God. Odin knew of Pastor Deaver's belief as well. But we don't know if Warden Lacy and Pastor Deaver ever acknowledged this to each other. Maybe in the mixup of infinite realities they're the same person.

As for Jackie, if she wrote this all I'm going to assume it was her first story since she wrote herself into it lol.
Thank you Mr. King and everyone involed in the show.
