VAN'CHOS (vanilla-filled and chocolate-filled) Girl Scout Cookies... Discontinued way back... The best cookie... EVER!

Although I still buy about $100 worth of Girl Scout cookies from my granddaughter every year for others in the family, I haven’t eaten a Girl Scout cookie in many years in protest of discontinuing their sandwich cookies!

Sorry could only like this once...

Short story. hopefully. When my oldest son began playing rec baseball the director of such had just made it mandatory that all players received "participation" trophies. My son has two in his case. I say two because I was elected to be director of rec ball after those two years. There is one year, around age 7, when he did not receive a trophy of any kind as the new director put an end to such shenanigans. From then until 12 years of age his case is full of first and second place trophies that somehow are in front of those "participation" things.

My response to those who objected to abolishment of "unearned" bangles being given out? I offered each parent who complained that year $3 so they could go buy their children plastic gold figures for their little ones. No one took me up on it.

Many ended up playing for me. I doubled as a coach, sometimes for three different age groups.

I had 27 players from those 5 years go on to play high school ball and almost every one of them told me they appreciated the lesson of earning what you get.

OK was not that short was it?

Along, those lines check out this silliness:

Why would you ever apologize for winning a game? The league had no slaughter rule.

Well...

I need more specifics to comment on story. Was winning team running and gunning in second half with starters in until near end? Was winning team pressing and causing turnovers which led to lop sided score, even when up 50? If final score was result of players who usually don't get in the game doing extremely well while at the same time sitting back in a two three passive zone then I am fine with it.

Sports are filled with unwritten rules us old people remember.

Unless you are a Dirty Pirate Hooker and you might forget them for awhile. ;;D

The winning team played bench players in the second half.

That whole “don’t run up the score” stuff is crap. If you want to prevent that enact a slaughter rule.

Here in NC once a team is up 40 in either basketball or football there is a running clock for remainder of game. Doesn't stop for anything except timeouts or injuries.

Sorry like I said I am old. Back when I played baseball if you were up 8 or more runs and stealing bases the next batter better start running. Ribs are an easy target.

I got drilled in the back one game after robbing the opposing pitcher of a home run. I was the first batter up the next inning. So yeah, there are things you can do in game to address it. I just find it bad form to apologize for winning.

I've told this story before....yaaaawwwnnnn... but will try to be brief.

Husband played football. Played a team from a higher division with a really intense and skilled lineman guy. A brute! Our coach wanted this kid out of the game. So, he told his players to spit on his hand when they were down. Our kid did it. The brute came up off the line and charged. Got some sort of penalty. Down again. Spit on his hand again. And he came off that line after the kid. He got thrown out of the game. Mission accomplished.

Were you the type of player to be a hand spitter?
