When I first glanced at the title of the thread I thought it said Touching Christmas Carols. My first thought was that Carol doesn't liked being touched at Christmas, only at New Years after she's had a few........

I went to John Lewis when I was over there. That was our big trip to the mainland sort of shopping in Glasgow. I actually preferred the 2011 ad by John Lewis so I guess I'll post it here:
People in North America probably don't get as sick of them as those in the UK as we are not bombarded quite as much (well at least not with John Lewis ads!) Adverts or commercials actually drive me insane. I have to mute them, especially when they show one on TV and then 30 seconds later it's back on again!

Wow, load em up here. That was a great ad. All of them are.

Okay - me too but in a nice way - sorry! It's sad but it's a nice kind of sad (if that makes sense). I mean sad that there are lonely old ladies but nice for what they did for her - hey how did they get in anyway? Are they the superintendents of that building?

Possible, if so they are better than my hubby and me at that job. Much better decorators too. I can't do that well with my own place.
We have mostly seniors in our building. Some of them live alone but we have a very involved social club here. They get together in our tenants' lounge on Thursdays for coffee, birthday celebrations once a month for all with cake, happy hour on Friday afternoons, movie nights on weekends, bingo.....you get the idea! Christmas dinner party in December with gift exchange. That's always fun!

I like Christmas ads that go for the heart while advertising a company or product. In Ireland they all seem to aim to tell you to have a ' perfect' Christmas you have to buy this or that and LOTS of it. The John Lewis ads seem to be best at the heartstring pulling. So thanks for the nice or funny ones.

Oh man... I actually really would be. My vacuum cleaner is so screwed that it's almost easier to just walk around picking stuff up by hand. I've never had a new one and yeah... she most certainly would be happier with a hoover.
