Tying Doctor Sleep to The Shining

After reading both books simultaneously I was left with a few questions unanswered.
In the shining jack was suppose to keep the boiler from blowing up by purging it and releasing the steam. Could this be the same "steam" that the true knot search for? Afterall the hotel wanted danny for his shine. Also since the true knot owns the campground where the hotel once stood could they be the owners of the hotel? it said it changed hands throughout history but never really did and with the many connections and money they have and considering how old they are is it possible that Horace derwent was part of the true knot?

mustangclaire There's petrol runnin' through my veins.

Welcome. It's a long LONG time since I've read The Shining.. I didn't re-read it before Doctor Sleep. Others far more knowledgeable will be along in a bit to fill in the gaps for you. All I know is Doctor Sleep is now one of my all time favourites. :)
  3. That's an interesting idea... If the steam isn't tied in, I think it should be :)

If Derwent had been part of the True Knot, do you think he would have killed Snakebite Andi's girlfriend?

Walter Oobleck keeps coming back...or going, and going, and going

Why would he have done that?

Why would he have done that? He DID do that. What was his motivation for doing so?
To feed on her, I suppose, and avoid turning into ashes like Mrs. Massey had.

Imho, the Knot wouldn't keep alive this long, if anyone could betray there. Avoiding punishment from Rose the Hat especially - but that's just the way I see it.

Steam is someone's life essence from fear that the cult lived on. The Shining steam was plain old boiling hot water.
