Do you have a talent people may not know about? Reiki

Hey, Ms. Spidey!

I think I told you one of my bestest friends did Reiki on Philip several times. He found it very soothing and would ask for her when he was feeling especially bad. (Physically, emotionally and all around cruddy.)

Peace.
Reiki??? Is that some kind of massage or yoga or what? :umm::umm:

Reiki is a therapy often described as palm healing or hands-on-body healing in which a practitioner places hands lightly on or over a patient's body to facilitate the patient's process of healing.

A Brief Overview

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recove

An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.

Its use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.

Thank you, Spidey.

I'm probably gonna mess this up but I will try to describe what Gin did.

First, she would make eye contact with Philip, smile a small smile and nod. Philip would smile and nod back.

She would then close her eyes and sorta *run* *hover* her palms over his body. She did tend to focus on his head (He was dying of GBM. Brain cancer.) and his heart. (Maybe to give him extra support in spirit?)

What I DO know, I could see him relaxing and a small smile. At the same time, I saw Gin smile and her shoulders would square up. I like to think she was happy ... giving comfort.

Peace.

I hope I didn't upset you by asking - I'd never heard of Reiki, but had some experience with (canine) acupressure. Sorry for my ignorance. :(
morgan-- no reason to be upset for asking. Maybe "absolutely not" was a bit strong. Cry Pardon on my part. Reiki is difficult to grasp as it is unseen energy that is transferred. It can be used for animals too. My daughter has the "touch" in that area.
Reiki can ben be accomplished long distance- again since it energy transfer. I've observed a Reiki Master- upon knowing the location and a little about the client, doing successful Reiki long distance.
Again cry pardon if I came across in the wrong manner.

Sigmund and Spideyman - super cool talents! I wish you were here with me!

What section(s) of the forum do you visit the most?
Ka-Tet Cantina, What are you reading? Sunday Survey, God bomb, wherefore art thou, all of Siggy's threads.

Have you ever been in a fight?
Never - I'm too scared

Do you have a guilty pleasure?
Ice cream and stinky cheese - specifically Mint Chip and Feta, not eaten together though,

What's the last sporting event you've been to?
Red Birds baseball game a few weeks ago

Do you go on any other message boards?
Nope

Were you ever so into a book, that you binge read it because you couldn't put it down?
Often - right off the top of my head: The Stand, It, Under the Dome, 11/22/63, Wolves of the Calla, Revival, Doctor Sleep

If you could go back in time and give a piece of advice to yourself as a teenager, what would you say
Quit being a doormat right now! Old habits die hard.

Do you have a talent people may not know about?
Flying by the seat of my pants

Have you ever walked out of a movie theater because a movie was really bad?
Yes - some Mel Gibson movie: Bird on a Wire - horrible movie

How did you come up with your user name?
I'm a bit prone to the mean reds
Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?

Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?

Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?

Who was the first person you had a crush on? Do you know anything about them today?
Jeff - 2nd grade, I snuck out of my class to go to his class and chase him around the room for a kiss - the teachers were in a meeting or some such, allowing me my moment. He actually found me on facebook many years ago. It must have been some kiss, huh?

What's your biggest pet peeve?
I hate the sound of chip bags - drives me insane. I also hate it when people spit in public. It's not uncommon around here for men to roll down their car windows and spit a big glob of snot on the street. It makes me nuts.

If there was one thing you could improve about your personality, what would it be?
I'd learn to quit internalizing.

What section(s) of the forum do you visit the most? I start with "new posts" and read pretty much everything. I post most often in Games.

Have you ever been in a fight? Sort of...I met this girl after school (with Mom's permission) for the purpose of a fight. She pulled my hair while she jumped on my back like she was going to get a piggy-back ride. I dumped her off and she ran off because the school bus showed up. It was hilarious. Somehow, because I stayed longer, it went around school that I won. :)

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Probably...something to do with eating...

What's the last sporting event you've been to? A Sky Sox baseball game. (AAA team below the Colorado Rockies)

Do you go on any other message boards? Nope

Were you ever so into a book, that you binge read it because you couldn't put it down? Too many times to list...

If you could go back in time and give a piece of advice to yourself as a teenager, what would you say? Do not start smoking!!! (I did finally stop, though. I haven't had a cigarette for 7 1/2 months!)

Do you have a talent people may not know about? I don't think so. I'm rather untalented.

Have you ever walked out of a movie theater because a movie was really bad? Nope

How did you come up with your user name? It's my name. No imagination, apparently.

Who was the first person you had a crush on? Do you know anything about them today? A boy named Steve in third grade. No, I know nothing about him now.

What's your biggest pet peeve? I can't decide which one to use here...I guess I have many.

If there was one thing you could improve about your personality, what would it be? I would have thicker skin and not let others "get to me" they way they can...be less sensitive.

What section(s) of the forum do you visit the most?-Usually i start with 'General Discussion' and 'Chattery teeth'.

Have you ever been in a fight?-A kid tried to pick on me at primary school and I pushed him and he fell and hit his head in the urinals. I've been 'King-hit' twice. Once in 1985, where a bunch of skinheads dressed like 'A Clockwork Orange' tried to 'roll' me. One came up to me and asked if I had a dollar, and I had had a few drinks and I hear running behind and I turn a get smashed in the side of the nose. We start rolling on the ground, and I'm scared they'll lay the boot in, but their 'boss' who had a cane said. 'Enough!' He said something like 'You've proved your alright, lets go boys.' And I 'm left with a broken nose. So, I go home with blood all over my shirt, and my dads home and I storm in and go outside and get a crowbar. Anyway he says 'where'you going' and I said something like 'to kill the ******** who did this.' Anyway, he stopped me and convinced me to ring the police.

Do you have a guilty pleasure?-Not anymore. Smoking most probably.

What's the last sporting event you've been to?-A Sydney Roosters Rugby League game in Sydney, last year.

Do you go on any other message boards?-No. I've been to the John D MacDonald website a few times.

Were you ever so into a book, that you binge read it because you couldn't put it down?-Yes, I used to drink heavily on Saturdays, and wake up late Sundays, and after eating around Midday, I would read in bed from 1pm to midnight.

If you could go back in time and give a piece of advice to yourself as a teenager, what would you say?-Get harder.

Do you have a talent people may not know about?-I have a slight sixth-sense. I also talk in my sleep and used to sleepwalk as a child. My father said he used to hear me talk in differently voices and languages when I was a child.

Have you ever walked out of a movie theater because a movie was really bad?- I have, but can't remember which one.

How did you come up with your user name?-At first, I used my own name, then asked Jordan if he could changed it and I couldn't think of anything and then thought I am more 'Cranky' now as a person since the death of my father, so I picked Mr. Cranky.

Who was the first person you had a crush on? Do you know anything about them today?-I liked Shirley Jones from the Partridge Family. There was some others and I think of them later.
