OH NO YOU ARE NOT MA'AM...lol I wanted to run out into oncoming traffic after I saw this at the theater. My ex-wife was openly weeping as we exited the theater, I wanted the three hours of my life back that had just been stolen. Still can't listen to Celine Dion and I'd never been so happy to see closing credits in my life.

LOL! I'm so glad I'm not the only one :)

Any opinions on John Jakes?? I've read his North and south trilogy (in swedish translation) many years ago remember liking the first very much but thinking that it started to slow down somewhere in the second part. I've decided to give them a reread in original language. How are his Kent chronicles? What is it? Good? Other Books? Any opinion appreciated.

Started Midnight Express by Billy Hayes. It was the basis for a rather scandalous film back in the late 70's starring Brad Davis. It's about a young college student who gets caught smuggling a small amount of hashish at an airport in Turkey and ends up in prison. Midnight Express (1978) - IMDb

That is one intense movie. Hard to watch, but well worth it. Just thinking about it gives my the chills.

I will have to look for the book.

Dust by Hugh Howey. The last part in the trilogy, i'm curious to see how it ends..
I loved the Silo trilogy.
Anyone who loves Sci-fi should give them a try imo :)

Been a while since I have posted on here, I finished DROOD by Simmons. I thought it started slow but soon had me lapping up the Dickensian London tale, I read the second half of the book in one sitting!

I followed that up with Sphere by Crichton. This is the first Crichton book I have read and now I really want to read Jurassic Park! I only read it as I finished Drood at work and had nothing to read, so grabbed this from the charity stall we have in the hospital reception. Great book, fast paced and easy reading.

Then I read Artemis by Andy Weir, I haven't read The Martian (I did love the film though) and saw the signed limited edition for £12.99, so thought it would be rude not to buy it at that price. Good, solid story, loved the lead character...it did get a bit too science-y in places for me, but still enjoyed it!

Next up was a recommendation from a Goodreads friend - The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp.
I had never heard of either the book or the author in all honesty but my friend could not stop singing it's praises. I checked Amazon and it was £1.60 (ish) for the kindle version and thought I had nothing to lose. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this, great to have something come out of nowhere and literally wow you. Any lover of horror fiction should give this a go, especially if you can get it at the low price. Mixing old horror tropes into something a bit more modern, cleverly written, I hated, loved and despaired for Jack!! Recommended!

And now I find myself (finally) starting The Passage by Cronin.
So far, so very good. Really liking his writing style, just made it to part 2 and loving it!!

Hope everyone is well?! :)

Been a while since I've posted here. I've been all over the place, with my reading lately.

Sleeping Beauties, of course. ;-D Then went back to my IT reread, I put it aside when Sleeping Beauties came out. After IT, I went back to McCammon's Mystery Walk, which I put aside for IT.

Then read The Kind Worth Killing, by Peter Swanson. Loved the first half, it fell apart just a bit for me the second half, but it was a good little read.

Now I am reading Little Women for the first time, and enjoying it very much. Wanted to start Strange Weather, but did not want to take it along on our trip last week, so it will be next. :applause:
