Still on my book about Henry III, son of John Lackland. But i read much slower now. Ir is because of the painkillers the doctors oredered me to take that makes me a bit more sleepy i think. But i think Henry was in need of a biography. He didn't have the personality of either uncle or his father but he did, in contrast to both of them, actually care about england as England. He was no great military talent but when he left over the ruling to his son, Edward I. he had managed, in babysteps, to create something resembling order from the chaos of John. Richard only saw England as a kind of wallet he could take money from so he could do what he wanted in Aquitaine which was home to him, something England never was. Henry had some luck because when he became King he was 9 years old and Prince Louis of france claimed the throne but on his side he had "The Greatest Knight Ever", William Marshall. He was 80 years old now but still managed to keep the king safe and chase out the french from England in two battles. The main reason the barons had rebelled in the first place was not that they disliked the monarchy but that they disliked John. They trusted Marshall. He is an interesting character, if there ever was a character that resembled Sir Lancelot it would be him.
