Hey, some of us rely on people taking a chance on chick lit ;D lol

Really, there are some very good books out there, and as a genre it is not the same as your mamma's bodice rippers. Chick Lit (more kindly called Women's Lit) is more about relationships and life choices than sex or fantasy (though those can occur).
Oops. Sorry skimom2. Is that your genre?

Try The Ghost of Sleath, Moon, Ash etc. He passed away at 69 years last year leaving a wife and 3 lovely daughters. thanks for the scary nights Jim. If you want to read more about him read his (auto) biography forgive me i get me up between them two. Devil in the dark Craig Campbell. It will give you more of an insight into him . He was brought up in the East end of London and his parents refused to answer the door when the baliff came. read, you will enjoy
I didn't know he wrote an autobiography. Thanks, I'll look that one up. I'm going to have to read the Robert E Howard bio as well by Mark Finn. Mark.

I'm also reading Joyland, but I have to admit I'm starting to get frustrated. I like the writing, just like I like the writing in 1984, but I'm still waiting for major action to take place. You know, a confrontation.
I'm on page 100 now, which is another reason I refuse to give up reading it.

I felt the same way.

Yep, at least the first two. I have a couple more in the works, but I'm more wrapped up in a historical right now.
When I worked for one publishing company, we had a pretty strong women's lit imprint, so I was up on the authors at tast point. Until recently, I was out of touch with the genre. Then a very good friend of mine started talking about how she was good friends with a couple of women's lit authors. Soon after that, I was invited to a party and met Linda Lee Francis. I introduced her to my good friend, and it wound up they had friends in common. Small world! Now I'm wondering if my friend has ever read you? Hmmmm...

I keep looking at that one at our library--it really does look interesting

It's pretty interesting, it just goes back and forth on the construction of the World Fair too. Someone suggested to me, said it really spooked her out. I always wanted to be a crime reporter and this is like getting into a case. (I did some reporting during some court sessions as a journo. Facing that kind of real stuff is scary) That's why I think I really enjoyed Joyland. Has the spooky stuff and crime too.

At the moment i'm reading a history. How Rome fell by Adrian Goldsworthy. But i just suffered a major catastrofy. My bedlamp died. caputt. Out of order. Seized to function. Which mean i cant read before i go to sleep. And i don't have a spare lamp. And it is to dark to read otherwise. So i will have horribly problems going to sleep because i have to read atleast for awhile or i'm sunk. I will toss and turn the whole night in my sheets like a fish in the net. So this is probably a little off topic but i had to moan somewhere. Thanks for listening

Looks like for tonight just "bite the bullet" and try to get to sleep without reading - I know it will be tough!

Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah. But somehow it hurts a little less if you moan about it for awhile. Guess i have to find a lampstore tomorrow. Have no idea where they are located. Sigh!! Yeah, i should try at least. It is 3 AM here.

Don't you have emergency flashlights or candles? What do you do if your electricity suddenly goes out (a power failure). Don't tell me you just sit there in the dark?

p.s. Do NOT fall asleep with a candle burning! :icon_eek:

I forgot!! I do have a flashlight. You just saved my night. Neesy. A big kiss to you. I used to read under my blanket all the time when i was i kid. and was supposed to be asleep. Can't imagine why i didn't think about that. An obvious solution. Just think that i have been going around moaning an hour when it wasn't necessary- Gosh! One is so stupid sometimes.
