I had read the Stand once, and it was the uncut version. I am now reading the cut version for the first time, and I find that I am enjoying this version better. What great characters!

I purchased Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews today and will be reading it soon. I have never read a V.C. Andrews book before, but I did see the Lifetime movie a few weeks ago and actually enjoyed it. So I decided to give the book a try....seems like a guilty pleasure book. ;;D

Will be going to Books-A-Million soon and I want to purchase N0S4A2 by Joe Hill. I also plan to replace my poor tattered copy of the Exorcist. It is almost unreadable now and is held together with tape. Would also like to purchase Lauren Graham's book Someday, Someday, Maybe. Seems like a cute, quick read, plus I love Lauren Graham.

OH wow - those VC Andrews books from the 80s: I read them all way back when and they were so good!- they were quite addicting.

I found a NOS4A2 at a thrift store and read the first few pages and didn't buy it because it scared me. I'm so regretting that. I should have at least purchased it. I'm such a wimp.

I remember trying to read "Flowers in the Attic" back then, too and I just found it so highly improbable that I had to put it down. (But maybe that was just me). I was pretty busy back then and was setting up housekeeping, etc.
Did you watch the movie that was on TV recently about it? @HollyGolightly ?

I read this book the other day, really enjoyed it. So far it's my favourite story by Joe. You should go back and see if they still have it in the store.

Almost finished with Harbor (John Ajvide Lindqvist), and it's SO good! I liked Let The Right One In a lot, too. Library doesn't have Handling The Dead, so I might have to buy it from Amazon :) He's a very interesting writer.

Harbour is in my TBR pile. I've read his first one and Handling The Undead. He definately has a different take on things that are horror. He has a new book out plus a short story collection.

I finished it last night & quite liked it! I admire the way he was able to handle jumping back and forth in time--that can be tricky, and often comes out awkward for the reader, especially when it's a memory within a memory. The end felt a bit rushed, but when the book is taken as a whole, it's definitely worth reading :)

What did you think of Handling the Undead? I'll have to buy that one if I want to read it. I got the free e-short he had a few days ago, and liked that, too.

I just started The Book Thief by Australian author Markus Zusak. I had never heard of it, and just happened to stumble across it. I didn't realize it is
narrated by Death.
. Had to read the first part of the first page a second time when I realized that.

But I got hooked by the end of that page.

I liked Handling The Undead. It's a zombie book, but his take on the mythos is different. Not your typical blood bath zombie tale.

Noting about Lindqvist is typical--that's what makes his books intriguing :) Thanks for suggesting the rest of his books--didn't know he had published beyond Let The Right One In.

I finished The Eyes of the Dragon a few days ago, which it amuses me to say that while reading it, it never entered my head it was made for a younger audience! ha-you just never know whats round the corner with a King book, and I really liked it! and as yet, havent made a pick for a new one. I'm thinking UTD or The Shining so I can follow on with Dr Sleep....dunno yet....

I like the 'cut' version better. The added material didn't really add anything to the story, and in some cases weakened it (IMHO, of course).
