Tomorrow I'm off to the doctor. Not sure what I did to my shoulder, but it's been about two weeks of pain.

I called Friday and got an appt Tuesday. 2 business days, not bad IMO, especially since my doctor is semi-retired, and one of his partners did retire. Saturday, the pain was so excruciating, I almost went to the ER. But yesterday and today were just pain. Lol.
...curious to know what you found out ma'am.....just sent a kid to the local ER from work today to get his left shoulder reduced-he'd managed to dislocate it....

Thank goodness, not that.

Supraspinatus tendonitis is one of the words he wrote on the paper.

Impingement syndrome. Rotator cuff (something I can't read.)

He prescribed an anti inflammatory/pain med, gave me a few exercises to do to prevent me freezing the shoulder in position...and hopefully I won't need physio.

He has also given me a requisition for an X-Ray and ultrasound. I think they are to rule out other more serious problems.

Googled. Did find that ice is recommended for pain. Doctor hadn't mentioned that, and I forgot to ask. (I never know whether to ice or heat.) anyway, I did try ice, and it helped...not much. <sigh>

Btw, many years ago I injured my ankle. I kept it still for so long it actually did freeze. Same doctor gave me a few exercises and I was able to avoid physio and have no limp.

....yep, those all sound familiar and pain meds with range of motion exercises will help....

Healing vibes for you AnnaMarie.

I think I am going to stay in bed as much as possible today. I feel like a truck hit me.
It's no wonder! You've been through much lately - take it easy and rest up - I hope you're feeling much better soon

Toronto Blue Jays?

Lol.

I was concerned about whether doing certain things would cause damage. Basically I'm to follow the rule "if it hurts, don't do it". Even the exercises he showed me do not hurt when done properly.

So, I said to him...."it's OK if I babysit my granddaughter then? She's only 10 1/2 months so she does need to be carried." He says, "that's fine. You hold a baby in close to your body. Just don't try putting a pen up on a shelf." And that's it...lol. Raising my arm like that hurts, and the arm reaches a point where it feels like, if I force it to continue, something will literally crack. So....don't do that. (OTOH if I take my left hand in my right hand, I can move the arm up, no problem. Weirdest injury. Lol)

Wanted to pop in and day hello to all my SK friends. In Vancouver visiting my daughter and loving every minute :)
Having a great time. Had a good laugh last night. Anne and I sitting chatting last night (again) and Ian in a chair
listening and a cookie in one hand and a tart in the other. Anne asked his opinion on something and he looks up from hands says oh, uh these are bloody brilliant can I have some more? Anne looks at him and says not the food! what we are talking about. He said oh yes whatever you think best dear. Now there is a very wise young man.
