I would like to point out a difference between lacerations and CUTTING THE TIP OF YOUR FINGER OFF.

Had to look that one up. I wear hearing protection when riding the lawn tractor so no worries there. The wife screaming at me when I smash her planters with the tractor is another story. But I have 3 pallets of 20 pound decorative stone left I need to haul to build a retaining wall. I definitely see some smashed toes in my future. :)

I've been surfing Maine real estate listings. I just can't believe what we can get for our money there compared to what we paid here. Seriously considering buying a buildable lot now (while prices are still good) to secure our retirement. There are some great fixer opportunities too but since we wouldn't be living on that side of the country until we retire, it's far too early to buy a fixer.

Having said that, I'm now trying to talk Mr. Blue into just leaving Seattle now. We have enough equity in our house here to buy and refurbish a fixer outright. I could keep my job and work remotely to cover living expenses and Mr. Blue could spend all day fixing scooters and arcade machines with the occasional freelance web design job. We'd be living like kings (no pun intended).

Maine is affordable. My buddy bought a 3 bedroom house with a 1/4 acre of land in Brunswick for slightly more than I paid for my 1 bedroom condo just south of Boston. However, the pay scale for most jobs is much less than what comparable jobs pay in the Boston area.

Yes, I would definitely want to keep my Seattle job and work remotely but we'd be just fine on that, which is funny since Mr. Blue is the real moneymaker here.

Hmmm - Seattle is pretty nice in terms of weather isn't it? Maybe you should get some advice regarding snow clearance from Ms. Mod (Marsha?) Moderator :biggrin2::snowman:

Oh, I know what I'm getting into. Mr. Blue is from Alaska and reminds me constantly how much work it will be. He's not ready yet though so we're sticking it out here a while longer.

Went and got my car out of the shop. I was so surprised The little shop who works on our vehicles said no charge. They replaced an axle and they didn't charge for the labor. That made my day. Took the son to the summer reading program at our library. So productive day here.

Very much so. But they are very friendly. If your car is in their shop and you have no way to pick it up. They will drive it over to you and you just drive them back. If really don't find places like this much. My car wouldn't pass emissions for like three times and he had done the work. He said he would get it through emissions for me. He took it there and I got my car back the next day and got my plates. He is just so awesome.

I did that in 2014. I couldn't believe it, either.

I got the official word that I can go full-time work from home when our office moves (probably January or February). This is such great news for me medically (my migraine triggers abound in the office and will only be worse with the open floor plan in the new office) but this will also save us money, time, and stress for a variety of other reasons. Most importantly, the dogs are going to love it!

Update: tip of my finger seemed to have taken. Getting some color back (nice and pink now) and the nerve endings hurt like hell.

Wife, on the other hand, went to the doctor today and found out she broke her finger and will probably lose her fingernail.
Continued healing vibes for you both. I think someone is telling your wife that pool was not the best of ideas!

The difference is just unbelievable. I can buy a buildable lot for less than 4 of our mortgage payments here. Of course, I'm talking about rural Maine but not so far out of a city that we couldn't run errands regularly to stock up on supplies. Even "big city" Maine is significantly cheaper though. To put things in perspective, our house here cost $769,950 two years ago. Redfin has it estimated at $905k now.

...just have her Super Glue it on!!!.....
She’s in DJ’s camp on this and thought me super gluing the top of my finger back on was a idiotic man thing. Her 75 year old father called us a couple of heva hava’s. Hadn’t heard the term in decades, probably before the interweb. Growing up I heard it a lot from people who used Pennsylvania Dutch phrases. Decided to look the meaning up the other day. How the actual meaning went to a term used to describe someone as a nitwit is perplexing.
