Going to the library today to pick up a copy of The Outsider and also back to Value Village to see if those two books (Black House and The Talisman) are still there [keeping my fingers crossed as I did not make it there yesterday].

Just an update from proud father day after my "day"...

Youngest ended up being valedictorian of his graduating class.

Made a great speech too...

OK not perfect. Never mentioned either parent.

Thanked some teacher that got him to play football in 9th grade!!!

And only quote he used was from some old writer guy named Mark Twain?!?

Oh and made all county baseball team. Both were in same edition of local paper. Only had to buy for that day.

Win win.

Thanks for allowing me to not humbly brag on my DNA sharer.
Congrats all around! Wishing your son much success as he goes on to the next chapter of his life.

Thanks to all.

As his coach/parent for first 18 years of life always tried not too boast too much about him. Now that he has "retired" from sports feel like I can a little bit. Always has been a hard working student/athlete.

I personally was a pretty fair one myself. Just wasn't hard working like he is.

Congrats all around! Wishing your son much success as he goes on to the next chapter of his life.

He right now wants to be an optometrist!

That will assure me of dying poor.

However if he succeeds will mean I have raised a respected newspaper reporter, "middle child" who just finished MBA while working 48 hour weeks (and paid for it himself, my favorite) and an optometrist.

Not bad for a poor dirt farmer.

I really like my nurse. Her name is Jodie. Very soothing voice.
She also ordered oxygen for me. That might be here tomorrow, I'm not sure.
She said my vitals are good.
We talked for quite a while.
Next week, I will have someone else to come in, and give me a shower, and back rub, and all that stuff. This is just to get used to each other.
I can still shower by myself, but I feel like it is a struggle.
Tomorrow, I have a social worker coming to see me. Karen wants to talk to her about a living will for me. I don't know what all they talk to me about though.
I got in touch with 2 of my brothers last night. We all have not spoken to each other in over 20 years. They were glad to hear from me.
One brother refuses to talk with me, and the other, I could not reach. I will keep trying though.

I love you....we all love you!!

Well guys, similar to a situation Dio went through a while back, we might be taking on a discarded child. The sister of a close friend of ours is using heroin and terribly neglecting her 3 year old son. My friend and her mother are not in a position to take him so we're going to see about becoming emergency fosters. It's such a terribly sad situation. I truly hope we can help and that he doesn't wind up lost in the system. At least with us, he will be guaranteed regular access to his aunt and grandma.
