As promised, here's an update to my book signing!
First off, I had a blast and am so glad I stepped out of my rut and decided to go!!
Backstory: Tim Dorsey is a former writer for Tampa Tribune. He started in the late 90s writing a book about Florida, the crazy folks that live there and weird things that happen there, and a somewhat insane main character, Serge A. Storms. His first book was called Florida Roadkill. He's just published his 22 book, No Sunscreen for the Dead. His hero, Serge, has become a cult hit and is my own personal favorite homicidal maniac. Seriously, he comes up with ways to kill those jerks that just annoy the bleep out of you, that are as hilarious as they are gruesome.
fljoe0 and
Spideyman - have either of you read his books?
Anyway, the venue was a small, independent bookstore near my office. I had texted a friend who also reads his books and she agreed to meet me at the store. Seating was supposed to start at 5:45, and I met her there around 5:30. I checked in and got my book, (Yay!) and had noticed that the author was there, just kind of hanging out in the corner. Right about the time I was finishing up, he grabbed a sharpie and announced that he could go ahead and start signing if anyone was ready. Um, yes, please!

Hooray!! I got a handshake, my book signed and got to tell him a Coleman near-encounter story all before 5:45!
He continued to sign as folks came in. It was a small crowd, maybe 30-40 people. Once everyone was there, he started by taking questions for about 35 minutes, then he told a few stories and just interacted with us. So cool!!

He wrapped up just about 7:15, took a few crowd pics, signed a few more things, took a couple of pictures and it was over far too soon!

I could spend hours just listening to him talk. He's just a regular guy who happens to be a great story teller and has been lucky enough to get those stories published. If you haven't read any of his work, I highly recommend you give him a try.
