I read it once when it first came out and have not reread it, though I did like it. It's just too long for me these days. I've stated this before, but as I get older my patience and attention span for rereads gets shorter and shorter.
....well, seeing that KRF dropped the ball....allow me to recover the fumble....TWSS!!!!!!.......

Just before the premiere of the TV show. So when they started going "off script" my Hubby would ask about the book and I'd compare the two. After a few shows into the second season that stopped because I'd get out of breath. ;)
I was making a list of the differences during the first episode (think I ran out of paper! ;-D ). Quit watching after three or four episodes. Just loved the book too much! I did watch the episode with SK's cameo. :love_heart:

When it first came out. Didn't like it much, but I'll likely give it another go some day.
I didn't like it much, either ... but not because it wasn't a great story.

I decided not to "like" it -- after I enjoyed reading it, immensely -- because the author did that thing he does ... which is to present the "indomitable" evil, and then say, "Hah! Just kidding!"

And, really, even that isn't it.

I think he missed his chance.

I've said this before ... somewhere on this forum ... but as I was reading this story -- and becoming engrossed in that particular way that makes me love (and not love) Mr. King -- I remember thinking: He's going to do it this time. He's going to kill every last one of them..

And then of course .....

So I guess I have to give this one the highest praise I give any art:

I love it ..

Because it's not what I want it to be.
