Missing skimom2 a lot.

I'm still very concerned about Haunted . Sure hope she and hubby are okay.
Thank you, dear. I've been running crazy at work this year. All federal programs face d a 20% cut this year, so we lost 3 staff. At the same time, we did so well last year and got scores so high that we now have responsibility for helping in math and English in 4/5 grades (formerly, we only worked with K-3), and in running special study skills classes for special needs middle school kids. It does make the day go fast, but I'm entirely pooped by the time I get home, make dinner, etc. etc. Plus, I'm getting all of my ducks in a row to go back to school myself in January. I must be insane.

Love and miss you all! I will try to check in more often. Thank you for all the good thoughts.

You will be blessed for all your hard work with these students. You are the example to us all in how we should be working to make programs better. Working harder for our kids who one day will be in charge and taking care of us.

What do you want to be when you grow up?;;D (go back to school?)

I want to keep doing what I'm doing, but for (slightly) more money--lol. My boss will be quitting to start her own business doing SPED paperwork for school districts (this is incredibly time consuming) and consulting as a interventions specialist next year, and has been suggesting me to the administrator as her replacement. If I can get at least my Associates in Ed before next year, they will hire me and give me 3 years to finish my bachelors in Ed (it will take only a semester or two, actually). My state is desperate for teachers (is yours the same? I know they pay better than here, but it seems like the whole intermountain west is gagging for teachers, aside from WY, because they put gas/oil money into Ed). I absolutely LOVE what I do, even when it gets frustrating.

Seriously, it takes a special personal to do what you do. It is difficult and frustrating -- but so rewarding I'm sure, when you see those little faces light up with understanding and personal success.

Yes, I think there is a noticeable teacher's shortage throughout the west/pacific northwest. Teachers are expected to be everything to these kids: mother, father, pastor, counselor, confidante, disciplinarian, best friend, nurse and on and on and on. It is a position that should be better paid and respected.

Oh, and good luck skimom. Use your big brains, be a leader, play nice with others.

(what I say to my senior-in -college son when he leaves for school each day and what I say to my little charge I watch when he isn't in school and who is now in kindergarten.)

Teachers are special people and a gift to their students. Much success in all future plans. You can do it! When you get tired and discouraged, just think about the difference you have made and will make in so many young lives.

Hi!

I'm thinking pegasus216 was upset and left. I know she was having some medical issues but why would she remove her avatar? Why hasn't her daughter come by and informed us about problems. Some members have been sorta mean and crappy and hurt others feelings. My two cents.

((((pegasus216))))

Yes. pegasus216 come back

More often than not, the behavior has been unintentional but it's hard to tell that in this environment so has been perceived to be malicious even when it was not.

Hey, ma'am. I understand but there are some members that say things several times in different ways and people notice. Not just the intended victims but others as well. I don't do passive aggressive as it is pathological (and it's funny and pitiful) but I notice it as do others.

Peg is a nice person and I dislike it when her feelings are hurt. And I think that's what it is. I would like her to come back is all.

She basically said as much when she was leaving, stating that she was getting hurtful messages we couldn't see. Many of us told her how much we appreciated her, but I think with her eyesight issue, it was all too much. I hope that she or her daughter will come back and she that she is truly missed. When she posted that message I went back through the thread to see what she was talking about and I didn't see anything that I thought was untoward or malicious towards her at all. I was very confused about where it all came from. I sure do miss her though!
