Lansdale is one of those writers that refuses to be pigeonholed into one category- he writes in pretty much any genre he d*mn well pleases and he usually does any outstanding job. I especially like his 'Hap & Leonard' tales myself. I think you will enjoy his work and that you will want to read more of his stuff when you finish The Bottoms.
Now I'm really excited to read it! =D (I had to add the last three words to that sentence so you don't TWSS me! ;;D )

That's disgusting. It's thoughts like this I try to block out when at a used bookstore. I don't think I've ever been in the bathroom long enough to warrant bringing reading material. LOL.
A friend of mine told me a long time ago that anytime she sets foot in a Half Price Books she inevitably needs to use the restroom. She doesn't take any reading material in with her, just that HPB acts as a suppository for her, I guess.

I've worked in Borders and Barnes & Noble. We had to take shifts tidying restrooms. Mens: always reading material, usually porn. You never wanted to touch the magazines. Just sweep them up and toss them. Advise the manager. Ick.

However, I am not opposed to reading in the restroom. Just, only in your own house, your own books and magazines. Be classy.

A week or so ago I found an old 1984-1985 paperback of an old Bantam novel called The Ceremonies
Is it by T.E.D. Klein? If so, it is a very good novel. Klein used to be editor of the revamped Twilight Zone magazine back then. He has not written a lot of stories/books, which is a shame because he definitely is talented. As far as I know, he's only written two novels and one story collection (Dark Gods, which is an excellent anthology).

Good haul of SK books.jpg

Was out today taking a receipt to the travel agency for an insurance claim (that unexpected night at a hotel in Toronto) and just popped in to a Salvation Army on a whim.

I found a hardcover Dreamcatcher (1st edition) and also first editions of Mr. Mercedes {but in softcover}, Blaze and The Eyes of the Dragon.

The two Different Seasons books with different covers were not first editions but still in pretty good shape.

Took them all up to the cash register in a silver gift bag, which cost $1.99. The final bill was $8.08 after my 10% Senior discount [60 and over]:a11:

I didn't know I could get 10% off at the Sally Ann!

So I lined them all up on the windowsill in our garage and took a picture.

I was surprised at how cheap the books are there - usually Value Village will charge me a lot more than that! Any news from the lady with the book collection?
Hope she sells them to you without asking for an arm and a leg :frog:

Very nice! Do you know that the Different Seasons paperback came in 4 colors? There's orange, yellow, green and blue. Try to find them all.....;)

Bought this off of Ebay. It's a second edition, first printing and is quite good condition considering it was published in 1936. It doesn't have a musty smell and the pages are all intact and clean. Got it for half of what it normally goes for. It's his first novel. I'm a happy camper!
